English 2 First Semester Mrs. Borchers keri.7142@gmail.com Purpose: The purpose of English II is to familiarize the student with major writers from around the world and to build on the skills learned in English 1. Students will work more indepth with literary analysis, writing research. Major Points of Study: To Kill a Mockingbird The Tragedy of Julius Caesar A Streetcar Named Desire Poetry Historical Documents Nonfiction readings Various Short Stories Supplies: 3-Ring Binder, Paper/Notebook, pens/pencils Testing: Quizzes will be given with OR without warning Unit Tests Essays Re-Testing: Students will have 1 week after receiving the graded test to re-take. Grading: Will follow the guideline within the student handbook. Homework =10% Tests/Quizzes=30% Book Reports/In Class Work/Bell Ringers/Journals=20% Essays/Projects (all aspects to completed assignment)=40% Late Work: Will follow the guidelines established in the Student Handbook.
