MANDATOS EN LA PRIMERA PERSONA DEL PLURAL:
NOSOTROS COMMANDS
Definición: Nosotros commands are used to tell a group of people,
including yourself what to do. We use them all the time in English:
Let’s dance!
¡Bailemos!
Let’s watch!
¡Miremos!
Let’s ignore him!
¡Ignorémoslo!
Para formar: If you already know how to conjugate verbs in the present
subjunctive mood, then the nosotros command is simply the nosotros form
of the present subjunctive. If you do not know the subjunctive, here is how
you form the nosotros command of “hablar”:

Start with the yo form of the verb in the present indicative_________.
Take off the final ‘o’ ___________________.
To –ar verbs add –emos. To –er/-ir verbs add –amos. ______________
Fortunately both affirmative & negative commands are the same.
For affirmative commands, the pronouns are attached to the end
of the command, but for negative commands pronouns precede it.
Note the following rules and exceptions:
 Car, gar, zar goes to ___________, _______________, ________________.
 -ar and –er verbs do NOT stem change.
Ej: ¡Volvamos!
¡No perdamos! Pensar=¡__________________!
 -ir verbs stem change but the ei and the ou. ¡Repitamos!
 Irregularities in the present indicative ‘yo’ form remain:
Ej: ¡Salgamos!
¡Conduzcamos!
Recoger=
¡_____________!
 Haya, vaya, sea, sepa, dé y esté is still the foundation for irregulars:
___________, ___________, ___________, ____________, y _____________.
 The affirmative Nosotros command is often replaced by vamos a +
infinitive. Therefore, “Vamos a estudiar” could mean “We’re going
to study” or “Let’s study.”
 Vamos is used instead of vayamos for “Let’s go”. “No vayamos” is
always used for “Let’s not go”.
 ****In affirmative nosotros commands the final –s of the verb ending
is dropped when the pronouns nos or se are added. An accent
mark is written over the stressed syllable.
Ej: Lavemos + nos = ¡lavémonos!
Let’s wash up!
Prestemos +se+lo= ¡prestémoselo!
Let’s lend it to him!
