The emphasis of the course is on redesign and management of core e-business processes and the study of the ways in which different business models add value to organizations. Additionally, technologies like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for integrating internal business processes with inter-enterprise systems are discussed in detail. Course material will comprise of book chapters, cases, and project work to apply concepts learnt in the course. Specifically, the course will aim at: 1. Introducing students to supply chain management systems and electronic commerce issues. 2. Providing students with an understanding of both the technical and the business implications of e-business models. Upon completion of this course students would have acquired the following skills: 1. Gain a thorough understanding of the role that information systems and information technology plays in supply chain management and E-business. 2. Understand how information technology is being used in real-life situations by organizations to re-define their competitive boundaries and orientation. Teaching Methodology: The course will comprise of lectures and case analysis/discussion. Students will also get hands-on experience with certain aspects of information technology for e-business through projects and assignments. Term Project: Students will work in groups of three or four in order to complete a research paper and make a presentation of their findings before their peers.
