Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 6 SAT Preparation
The purpose of this letter is to advise you how school in conjunction with yourselves will be
supporting our Year 6 pupils in preparation for SATs. (Statutory Assessment Tests)
School has purchased for each pupil an English, Grammar and Maths Study Book and Question
book relating to your child’s predicted level. These books will be used for homework with specific
pages identified to be worked on each week. For homework, your child will also be bringing home
practice SAT papers. Please make sure your child has the opportunity to complete the papers in a
focused environment and within suggested time limits and that homework is completed and handed
in by the time requested.
Reading-15minutes reading of booklet, 45 minutes answering questions with reference to the
booklet. No help to be given.
Maths-Paper A 45 minutes-no calculator
Paper B 45 minutes-no calculator
A question can be read to the child but no explanation given of vocabulary or methods to try.
Week commencing 27th January the children will be tested on last year’s Key Stage 2 SAT papers.
You will be informed of your child’s results at the Year 6 Parent’s Evening on Tuesday 25th
February at 6pm. This evening is an opportunity for you to look at past papers, speak to Miss Marrs
about your child’s results and to ask any questions you may have.
Booster Classes for Year 6 children will take place on Tuesday evenings commencing 14 th
January until Tuesday 6th May 3.30-4.30pm, we expect all children to attend.

If you have any concerns especially regarding your child’s well being please contact school
immediately. We do hope by sending out this information and timetable your child will feel well
prepared and not over stressed.
