Annie Canfield age 30, [aka Annie Sherman], born 1870 in IL, parents born in Scotland; both married
11 years, she had 4 children 4 alive. Children Roy Canfield, Hazel Canfield, Wilber Canfield and

1862. Nelson and Margaret came to Traverse City and settled in Long Lake Twp Grand Traverse Co
(Margaret's Obit).
1864. Nelson C age 27 born 1837 enlisted in the Civil War at Grand Rapids MI Kent Co, in Company C
10th Cavalry (MSS v40p125). Nelson from Centerville Twp enlisted in Company M 10th MI Cavalry,
he got a $600.00 bounty for enlisting (MPHC v32p155 1902). Nelson was injured from a fall from a
horse, and was a semi-invalid the latter part of his life: He was a ship carpenter by trade (mc/mm).
1870. Census of Long Lake Twp Grand Traverse Co indicated Nelson age 42, carpenter; Margaret age
42; children John, Teresa, Julia, Clara, Albert, Thomas, Mary (p427/d27/f27 <check ref>).
1872. Nelson and family moved to Traverse City MI (Margaret's Obit).

Traverse Co indicated: Theresh (sic) J age 44, born 1856 in IL, lived with her brother John
(Soundex s9). 1905 Teresa J boards 442 5th (directory). 1906 Miss Teresa age 50 died at the home
of her brother Joseph in Traverse City MI. She had been a semi-invalid for 40 years from spinal
meningitis, her mother was her constant companion for 40 years. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery
(Obit, The Evening Record, Traverse City MI Jan 25 and 27 1906; not in MI/DRx).

e57/f1). A local obit stated she died in the Northern Michigan Asylum. 1936 Miss Clara A (sic)
Sherman age 74, was prominent in local club and social affairs, died after long illness, buried in
Oakwood Cemetery (obit, Grand Rapids Press Mar 17 1936).

marriage (SMI/MRx 3-55). 192x Harold Morrow Sherman of Traverse City a WW-1 veteran
(SA/WW1x). 1934 Harold married Grace E Rawson, who was born 1907 in Clinton MI
Lenawee Co. Grace taught school in Traverse City MI until 1934. 1961 lived in or near Adrian
MI Lenawee Co. At one time Harold lived near his brother Thomas in Mountain View AR
(mc/mm). Harold was a noted author on ESP (mc/mm; Encyclopedia of Occultism &
Parapsychology, by Lesile A Shepard, 1985, p1214). 1988 Grace died in Bradenton FL, where

born 185x (1900 Census). Emma Jane died 1926 (mc/mm): possible buried in grave 5 of Roswell's
lot in Maple Grove Cemetery (cemetery records shows no names on this grave. Lovell/Lowell
Sours, 1852-1927, buried in Roswell's lot in Maple Grove Cemetery (cemetery records). A 1970
letter from Alice Sours (Haskins) indicated she was age 82 born 1888, and the only living direct
descendant of her grandfather Roswell Sherman (mc/mm). Also buried in same lot is Joseph
Sherman Sours, 1896-1986 (cemetery records).
