Dear Community Supporter;
On April 5, 2014, Sherman Oaks Parents Association (SOPA) will host our annual gala, a fundraiser, to
benefit the students of Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter (SOEC), formerly, Sherman Oaks
Elementary. SOEC is a public K-5th grade school serving over 800 families of diverse ethnicities and
cultures. Sherman Oaks parents, teachers and friends will gather together for an adult evening
highlighted by a live and silent auction. With the current budget crisis in LAUSD, the funds we raise are
crucial. In order to make this event a success we need your help!
If you have participated in the past, we would like to thank you for your support and ask if you would be
generous enough to donate to our auction again. If this is your first time, here are some wonderful
reasons to support our school’s premier fundraising event with a tax-deductible donation of goods,
services or sponsorship:
 Physical Education program meeting federal, state and LAUSD standards
 Music instructor for all students five days a week and Chorus for 4th & 5th grades
 Art Explorers, a weekly art history and hands-on creative program for grades K-5
 Computer lab supported by a dedicated computer lab instructor
 Kindergarten Science Enrichment instruction 2 days a week, including supplies
 Kids Center, a before-and-after school care program
 Beautification funds for equipment and campus improvements
 Full-time Health TA for nurses office
 Three instructional aides to off-set increases in class size
Donor recognition is extremely important to us. Sherman Oaks families love to support businesses that
support our school! When you donate, your company will be acknowledged in numerous ways,
including:
 In our weekly school bulletin, with distribution to over 800 local families
 In our weekly email blasts, with distribution to over 1500 people
 In our evening’s event program
 Your product and advertising displayed in our silent auction
We would be honored to showcase your establishment! Support of community members like you has
been, and will continue to be, crucial in maintaining our goal of excellence in education.
We know many worthy causes ask for your support each year and appreciate your consideration and
support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
