YEAR 8 AUTUMN TERM LATIN REVISION EXAMINATION FORMAT: One examination paper (60 minutes) – write answers on the question paper in spaces provided. All pupils will sit a Level 1 Common Entrance Paper with the following sections: Question 1 – Comprehension Read a passage of Latin and then answer the English comprehension questions in English. Full sentences are not required. (15 marks) Question 2 – Translation Translate a passage of Latin into English. The passage continues the story from the Comprehension Section. (60 marks divided by 2 = 30 marks) Verbs are worth a whole mark each! Question 3 – Text Analysis Read the Latin passage (a continuation of the same story from Questions 1 and 2) and then answer questions in English about the grammar. This section ends with the translation into Latin of two simple sentences. (2 marks are available here for putting the correct verb at the end of the sentence). (30 marks) Question 4 – Greek Myths Answer the English questions about the Greek Myths in English. There is a choice of 2 questions (answer one).
