Assistant Professor in Educational Measurement and Statistics
Position: The Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations at The
University of Iowa invites applications for an academic year/9-‐month tenure-‐track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Educational Measurement and
Statistics program.
Description: We seek an individual with broad interests in the field and evidence of significant professional promise or accomplishment in research that will impact the practice of educational measurement, statistics, or quantitative methods. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate/graduate-‐level courses and pursue research in educational measurement and statistics. An individual who is interested in innovation that expands external funding sources and outreach is desired.
Education Requirement: Prospective candidates must have an earned doctorate with specialization in educational measurement and statistics by August 20, 2015.
Required Qualifications: (1) evidence of scholarly productivity and/or promise of such;
(2) evidence of teaching skills; (3) potential for securing external funds for research, training, and program development; (4) interest in designing and applying innovative quantitative methods to practical issues in education; (5) ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations; (6) commitment to developing and teaching online courses.
Desirable Qualifications: (1) experience in designing and applying innovative quantitative methods to practical issues in education; (2) experience working collaboratively and with diverse populations, including practitioners and researchers from theoretically, methodologically, and substantively diverse backgrounds; (3) experience in securing external funds for research, training, and program development;
(4) experience teaching and/or designing instruction and professional development in face-‐to-‐face and online formats.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will maintain an ongoing program of research in educational measurement, statistics, or quantitative methods; design and teach undergraduate/graduate courses in educational measurement and statistics, with a commitment to online offerings; and advise MA and PhD students. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure external funding, participate in the activities of professional organizations, and be involved with state and national activities that support the practice of educational measurement and statistics.
