(206) 373-3036 NORDSTROM TO HOST PROJECT PREVIEW FOR LOCAL MINORITY AND WOMEN-OWNED CONTRACTORS New Nordstrom Store to Open at Aventura in fall 2007 SEATTLE (April 26, 2006) – Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN), will host a Project Preview event for the new Nordstrom at Aventura Mall, on Thursday, May 25, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port. The event is an opportunity for minority and women-owned businesses to learn more about the retailer’s contracting opportunities. The 167,000 square foot Nordstrom store will open in fall 2007. “Through this program, Nordstrom has built partnerships with businesses in the communities we serve,” said Barbara Valdez, director of the Nordstrom Supplier Diversity Program. “We’re looking forward to being in Aventura and opening our eighth Nordstrom store in South Florida. This new store gives Nordstrom the opportunity to work locally with qualified minority and women-owned businesses.” Nordstrom is seeking subcontractors for interior and exterior portions of the project, as well as vendors and contractors for construction supplies and materials. To be considered, a company must be licensed and bondable and demonstrate private sector experience. Project Previews are part of the company’s commitment to building diversity through its workforce, community and business partnerships. The Nordstrom Supplier Diversity program was created specifically to develop business partnerships with minority and -more- Nordstrom Project Preview for Aventura 2/2/2 women-owned vendors, suppliers and construction subcontractors. In addition to construction services and supplies, the program identifies products ranging from women’s apparel to office supplies. In 2005, Nordstrom expenditures with minority and women-owned businesses reached $635 million, bringing total expenditures to $6.4 billion since the program was launched in 1989.
