1. Using a Phillips screwdriver (not included) remove the screws and
open the battery compartment cover on the back of the Map.
2. Install three (3) fresh AA alkaline batteries (not included)
making sure the (+) and (-) ends face the proper direction as
indicated inside the battery compartment.
3. Replace the compartment cover and tighten the screws.

1. Insert the Pen Plug into the opening on the right side of the Map.

2. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the unit ON.
3. Lift up the Plastic Cover on top of the unit.
4. Choose a Map (example: Prehistoric North America Map) and insert it all the way into the
Map Slot on the top edge of the Unit. Close the Plastic Cover.
5. Use the Pen to touch icons on the Map and you will hear interesting facts!
6. Use the Pen to touch one of the Menu Icons for cool facts like state capitals and other
educational state information. (NOTE: Refer to the Menu Icon Chart on Page 5.)
7. Use the pen to touch one of the three illustrations
(Easy, Medium, Hard) at the bottom right hand
corner of the Map.
8. It will ask you a question.
9. Touch the correct answer on the Map with the Pen.

IMPORTANT: If you change a map while in Trivia
mode, you MUST press an ICON on the map to let
the unit know you‛ve switched maps. Example: Click
on the Mosasaur near Kansas if the Prehistoric
North America Map is loaded into the unit. NOTE:
The unit will cycle through the trivia question before
moving on to the new map you inserted.

1. Turn on your Apple® device and unlock the screen by sliding the “slide to unlock” arrow to the
right.
2. Locate the App Store icon and enter.
3. Search for “iTikes™ Map.” Press the button to “Install.”
4. If a prompt pops up asking to enter your Apple ID password, enter your password. This is
standard when installing Apps onto an Apple® device.
5. Once the App has downloaded, touch the “iTikes™ Map” App icon to enter the program. You‛re
almost ready to begin!
INSTALLING YOUR Apple® DEVICE ON MAP FOR APP PLAY
If the adult prefers the phone to be stationary while the child plays, follow the directions below:
NOTE: REMOVE Apple® DEVICE FROM PERSONAL CASE BEFORE BEGINNING.

HAND-HELD MODE
Camera Opening
1. Place the iPhone® or iPod touch® into the appropriately-labeled Holder with the camera end
facing the camera opening on the Holder.
2. Snap the device into place.
3. Place the Holder with device attached into the opening on the left side of the Map Unit.

4. Slide down to lock into place, then rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise to landscape view.
While the Apple® device is docked you can view expanded content.
1. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the Map unit ON.
2. Access the App on the iPod touch® or iPhone®.
3. Press the Com-Air icon with the Pen. A message will appear on your Apple® device that says:
“Waiting for device.” (That means it‛s waiting for you to click on the Map!)
4. Using the Pen, click on different icons on the map and educational content will pop up on your
device. You will see 3D Illustrations you can manipulate, hear fun facts and much more!
You can explore the Map holding your Apple® device. Here‛s how:
1. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the Map unit ON.
2. Access the App on the iPod touch® or iPhone®. (Your iPhone® will say “Waiting for Device.”
This means the App is waiting for you to click around on the Map.)
3. Using the Pen, click around on different icons on the Map.
4. Content will pop up on your device.
5. Click the “X” in the upper portion of the screen to exit the current screen content on the App.
6. You will see the camera‛s view on the screen now. Holding your iPhone® camera-side down,
hover over the ENTIRE MAP so that the app can recognize which map you‛ve loaded.
7. Stars will pop up on certain locations on the map. Zoom in by moving the phone closer to the
Map. You will see expanded content on your device!
NOTE: If you are hovering your device over the Map and your App doesn‛t recognize the new Map
you have just loaded, click around on the Map with the Pen.

If you are playing with multiple iTikes™ products and Apps, the Com-Air signals from the devices
might interfere with one another. Remedy this by moving devices until the malfunction ceases.

Batteries in iTikes™ Map must be fresh and Apple® device must be charged.
Make sure both unit and Apple® device are ON.
Install Apple® device properly in holder.
Com-Air signal will transfer best if volume on both unit and Apple® device are audible.
Background noise may interfere with Com-Air signal; move to a quieter area.
To prevent your Apple® device from going to sleep, adjust the Auto Lock setting to 5 minutes or more.
