Although the genre of Number the Stars is realistic historical fiction, it is full of actual true facts. The afterward
tells us which facts are true. Look through the book and find where seven true facts given in the afterward are
included in the story. Write one fact in each section of the tangram. Also write the page number on which you
found each fact.
In both real life and the novel, fishing boats played a major role in helping Jews out of occupied Denmark
during the war. Cut the tangram apart, so that you have seven pieces. Arrange the fact pieces into the shape of
a boat and glue it on a piece of construction paper. Draw and color a background for your tangram fact boat.
