LAST DAY OF THE SCHOOL WEEK SPIRIT
WEAR FOR ALL STUDENTS!
The last day of every school week students in grades
PreK-12 will have an opportunity to show off their
“school spirit” by wearing clean, loose fitting jeans (no
holes, frayed, jeggings, super skinny, or low riders) with
an official VCS spirit shirt, sweatshirt, or hooded
sweat-shirt. Modifications to spirit shirts will not be
acceptable spirit wear. Students may also wear regular
school day dress.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for
there is no authority except that which God has
established. The authorities that exist have been
established by God. Romans 13:1
Dressing for Modesty
Dressing for Respect
Valley Christian School has selected a
dress standard that encourages students
to excel in every aspect of their
educational growth and character. The
Valley Christian School Board of
Directors established this dress standard
for three reasons:
 Valley Christian School selects a dress standard that
helps you partner in meeting the goals of modesty and
respect within the school climate.
 Clothing must fit loosely and not be tight. In addition,
please have students refrain from wearing “skinny
pants” or any other clothing that has form fitting
material, regardless of the material type; as these do
not fit the modesty standard of the school. As a rule,
“skinny pants” usually have some sort of spandex or
elastic in them to make them very form fitting and
tight.
Modesty
VCS desires that students dress
in a manner which maintains personal
integrity and wholesomeness.
 Clothing must be made of solid opaque fabrics, with no
extreme patterns or colors.
Respect
VCS seeks to establish a climate in
which young men enhance their masculinity and young ladies express their femininity in a way that honors God and is
not a stumbling block to others
General Guidelines for
Boys and Girls

Expectation
VCS dress standard helps to promote a
learning environment that is free from
distractive fashion, empowering students to strive for higher achievement
and healthy peer relationships.

Piercings or tattoos (visible or hidden) are not acceptable for boys or
girls (with the exception of pierced
ears for the girls). There is no exception for pre-existing piercings
or tattoos.
Distracting hairstyles or colorings are
not appropriate for either boys or girls
during the school year. Boys’ hair is
to be neatly trimmed—not extending over the middle of the ear or over
the collar or eyebrows. Girls’ hair
must not be worn covering eyes
or impairing vision.

All boys must be clean-shaven with
sideburns not extending past bottom
of the ear.

Girls are not to wear excessive makeup to classes or school activities.
 It is expected that students dress to meet the VCS
school standard of modesty at all school activities.
Required school dress is also expected at official school
events or activities outside of the campus during
school hours. Formal dress will be required for special
school events such as Graduation, concerts, Speech
Meet, etc. and will be determined by school
administration.
 To promote these goals, VCS reserves the right to
encourage only clothing, hair style, cosmetics, or
jewelry that is deemed modest and appropriate as
determined by the VCS Administrative Team.
Special Event Dress!
Valley Christian participates in special events
throughout the school year. Students are required
to dress to the standard for the specific event
(Speech Meet, Veteran’s Day Program, etc.).
Most special event dress will be:
Girls: Wear dr ess or skir t with blouse or dress
top and dress shoes. NO athletic, boarder, or
canvas shoes.
Boys: Wear collared dr ess shirt (tucked in at
all times), coordinating tie, dress pants, dress belt
and dress shoes. NO athletic or boarder style
shoes of any kind.
