Boy am I tired… and pumped. Motzei Shabbos, after a massive cleanup, we enjoyed a serious ice cream party with unlimited chocolate chips, syrup, and sprinkles. Sunday was visiting day, and it was so excited to see our parents and show off our beautiful camp to them. It’s fun seeing parents exclaim how incredible the camp grounds, bunks, and food are, compared to when they were campers. Parents loved watching the Dora Golding dance at lunch too. On Sunday night we enjoyed an all new Rabbi Erps special Night Activity called “And the answer is.” Monday night, after Restaurant night, was a rocking Lipa concert. The dancing and singing in the theater was incredible. The biggest surprise of all was that Lipa did not break out color war. That was the next morning when Fireman Joe from came to camp to conduct a fire drill. After sending us all out and back in again he announced that it was Color War. And what a Color War it was! The ruach in camp was unparalleled with so many special activities, including swim races, all star games, bucket brigade, comedy skits, and grand plays. The camp-wide Torah Bowl was extremely inspiring and fun too. But the highlight was the Grand Sing. It began with the march from the blacktop to the Dining Room. Then, after the leaders, captains, and generals entrance, we had a few laughs as the Judges made their entrance with a hysterical skit spoofing color war. Alex and Binyamin looked great in red, and Rabbis Idstein and Rich simply blue us away! The singing lasted well into the night, including the Comedy Songs. The Alma Maters w e r e sung with so much passion, and it was so moving to see so many staff members and campers teary eyed, arm in arm, singing about how much they love CDG. It’s great that we have another week to enjoy! Lipa visits bunk 11 “If I were a Rich man!” Someone please tell us when does this guy sleep? In a camp graced with over 600 campers there is so much that must be done to keep camp running smoothly. Rabbi Idstein boasts about how incredible his assistant is. We see him working through the day, but most of us don’t see just how much Rabbi Rich does behind the scenes for us . It’s never too early, too late, too difficult, or too tedious. CDG is enriched with Rabbi Rich’s presence and we appreciate all he does for us. TORAH CORNER WHO AM I? 1. 2. 3. 4. I was requested Frightening Torah carrier I am not salt Know the answer? See R’ Katz tonight after the seudah for your prize Dear Mom and Dad, This week started with ice cream and ended with ‘I scream’! On Motzei Shabbos, after cleaning up our bunk, and squeezing out some toothpaste, we enjoyed a great ice cream party. I had a spoonful of ice cream and loaded it with chips, sprinkles, and syrup. Right after I ate it my counselor said it was curfew. Yeah right! I was so wired, I didn’t fall asleep until 3 a.m. It was great seeing me on Visiting Day. Just reminding you. On Sunday night we played “And the answer is”. When George was asked who the smartest person in camp was, he replied, “At the moment it is Alex Gold.” I wonder who will be the smartest person in camp this week? Monday night supper was Restaurant Night. I ate an egg roll, french fries, corn on the cob, two burgers, three hot dogs, a deli sandwich, and chicken. Afterwards, I had such a stomachache. But I needed the tin foil to make a really big ball. There’s a kid in my bunk from the Five Towns. He was wondering why the head of the Long Island Power Authority was performing a concert in camp. Let me tell you something — from the way Lipa was jumping around on stage, I think he was electrocuted. It was a great concert, and we all had a blast, especially when he taught us the four directions in Hebrew. Monday morning we enjoyed a visit from Joe of the Marshalls Creek Fire Department. It turns out he was really there for a breakout. Boy, they really had me fooled. Since then, I pick up every rock I find in a field. Color War was so much fun. Mom, can you buy me blue pajamas? Also, would you mind if I wore them in public? The Judges Entrance was hysterical. The administration showed their true colors. The alma maters were so emotional. My counselor was crying and he gave me a big hug. Then I started crying too. In fact, I couldn’t stop crying for three minutes… until my counselor realized he was stepping on my toe and moved over. When it was time to announce the scores, they couldn’t stop singing. In fact, I think they are still in the Dining Room singing. I was on red and won! Next week is Hershey Park, Pay Day, Neighborhood Day, Banquet, and a whole lot more. Well, that’s all for now. Send more money for the canteen. Love, Avi
