The foundation and concrete slab materials are directly placed on the lattice-typed
improved ground layer. As the improved ground layer, the foundation and the slab
are constructed in one body, it can transfer the load of a structure to the ground
effectively. In case of building on soft grand, so far the bearing pile foundation
system has been mainly adopted in which the piles are penetrated down to the firm
bearing stratum through the week layer. However, TNF can realize the low-cost
foundation without piles by using the ground surface layer as the bearing stratum.

1. No damage to the underground environment
It is possible to construct without any damage to the underground natural environment such as
underground water veins.
2. No influence on buried property
It is possible to build on ruins without destroying them. It is also possible to construct on the
disposal station of industrial wastes.
3. Reduction of CO2
It is possible to reduce a large amount of CO2 by using fewer building materials and shortening
the construction terms, so that the operating time of heavy construction machine can be
decreased.

2. Control of the differential settlement
As this foundation is lattice-type, underground stresses become uniformly.
The curb type shallow stabilized ground disperses the underground load, and distribution of the
settlement become uniformly by the effect of rigidity of the improved ground.
3. No difference in level caused by the arising of piles in case of the structure with the bearing pile
foundation system.
The TNF raft foundation is constructed in one body with the ground, so there is no arising of piles
by the ground settlement. Therefore, there are to equipped pipes under the ground or the slab.
4. Prevention of the liquefaction when earthquakes occur
The effect of confining the ground prevents the liquefaction effectively because it controls the
liquidity of soil when earthquakes occur.
1. Combine of the foundation slab and the improved ground layer
Crushed stone, concrete, reinforcing bars, and molds can be reduced considerably, and low-cost
can be realized by the combine of foundation slab and improved ground layer.
2. Improvement of the on-site ground
Since only the shallow ground soil is improved, the amount of soil carried out and in are
decreased considerably because it is not necessary to dispose of excavated soil.
3. Reduction of the cost for removal
In case of the structure with pile foundation on a fixed leased land, the cost of removing and
disposing of the piles arises when the land is returned. In TNF system, the cost of destruction
becomes low largely because the improved layer can be used effectively as the soil generated
under construction, or put aside.
4. Shortening of construction terms
Since the foundation and the slab concrete is directly placed on the improved ground layer,
construction terms can be reduced considerably.
