JOB DESCRIPTION: Marketing Manager – Europe and India Job Title: Department: Reports To: Classification: Supervisory responsibility: Position Start Date: Salary range: Marketing Manager – Europe and India Marketing Senior Director of International Marketing Regular, Full Time Exempt None _________________ $46,800 – $64,600 Depending on Experience Position Summary: The Marketing Manager for Europe and India will work directly with the Senior Director of International Marketing to develop and maintain all California Travel & Tourism Commission (CTTC) travel trade, PR and other programs as it relates to the promotion of California as a travel destination in the Europe and India markets. These programs include consumer-oriented advertising initiatives, tradeshow, familiarization tours, media events, etc. for the international PR/media and travel trade industry. The Marketing Manager for Europe and India will work in tandem with the designated CTTC offices in the following markets: - UK/Ireland - Germany/Switzerland/Austria - France/Belgium - Italy/Spain - Scandinavia - India Specific responsibilities include: Day-to-day management of all promotional activities related to the above markets which can include on-and-offline marketing programs in broadcast, print, outdoor, display, search engine marketing, eCRM, social media, mobile, CTTC’s international websites and microsites, CTTC’s international visitor’s guides and other marketing sponsorship programs; Liaise with travel trade operators, wholesalers, travel agents, trade and consumer media as well as in-state industry partners on various consumer cooperative programs and promotional opportunities; Generate PR opportunities and liaise with international PR/media contacts to develop positive stories about California Respond to all requests and opportunities as it relates to the above markets; Act as brand manager and point of contact for questions concerning brand guidelines and usage for CTTC’s advertising assets; Marketing Manager – Europe and India Revised 09/10 Work with the international offices and research team to evaluate and report on all market programs to determine ROI, effectiveness and partner satisfaction; Attend key tradeshows, media events and FAM trips as needed; Assist with a wide variety of other special projects or campaigns for the CTTC; Support senior staff, international country directors, research and PR staff Key Duties & Responsibilities: Estimated % of Time Activity 45% Day-to-day management of Europe and India markets, working directly with the CTTC offices to execute the marketing plan for consumer, trade and PR. Duties include daily communication, work direction, contract management, budget oversight, market updates, and coordination of various in-market promotional activities. Meet bi-weekly via conference call with market offices to review the status of all projects and provide support as needed. 25% Organize, lead and attend a variety of international and domestic trade shows, promotions and sales events. Interact with the travel trade and media via written correspondence, telephone solicitation, sales calls and trade shows/events. Establish and maintain relationships with key wholesalers and PR/media within market areas. 10% Follow up on all leads and requests with information and materials, forward requests for information to DMO partners. Maintain client database. Solicit promotional opportunities with brand partners in designated markets. 10% Oversee the logistical and itinerary planning of familiarization tours for tour operators, travel agents, and consumer and trade media by international offices, airlines, and CTTC partners. Liaise where needed with statewide DMO partners, conduct briefings, and provide materials for visiting groups. 5% Act as the key point of contact for all market programs for the purposes of compiling reports for CTTC Commission meetings, symposia, Year in Review, etc. Ongoing budget management. Budget reconciliation on a quarterly basis. 5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Marketing Manager – Europe and India Revised 09/10 Essential Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily: Ability to communicate and work well with partner entities including statewide DMOs, state offices and other tourism partners. Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Minimum of five years of professional experience in the tourism industry, including working with international tour operators and media. Demonstrated experience in managing and launching international marketing campaigns. Previous experience in sales and trade show management including project management/leadership, promotion of events and programs, attendance organization, event coordination, etc. Ability to make presentations to small and large groups. Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in marketing, recreation, tourism or related field. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Work hours may sometimes reflect operating hours of Europe and India. Strong organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to speak a second language is a plus.
