: South Point High School is a comprehensive four­year public school enrolling 1023 students in grades 9­12. South Point High School is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. South Point High School’s graduation rate for the class of 2015 was 95.1%. CURRICULU​
M: The academic program is organized on a block schedule. The majority of our students are enrolled in 8 classes per year. Students must earn 28 credits in order to graduate. Block scheduling was instituted in 1995. AP courses are offered in Biology, Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, English Literature, English Language, Environmental Science, European History, Government and Political Systems, Music Theory, Psychology, Spanish Language, Statistics, US History, and World History. AP is an open­enrollment program. Honors classes are offered in English 9­12, Math II, Math III, Pre­Calculus, Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, World History, Civics and Economics, US History, French III/IV, Spanish III/IV, Theater Arts, Choral Music, Band, Visual Arts, Health Science I, E­Commerce, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Multimedia and Webpage Design, and Teacher Cadet I/II. Students have the opportunity to take courses online through the North Carolina Virtual High School. Our partnership with Gaston Community College enables students to enroll in freshmen courses and earn college credits while in high school.
