Partner Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

The Receiving Party shall only disclose Confidential Information to its
employees and contractors who
(i) have a need to access such Confidential Information solely for the purpose in which it was
intended, and
(ii) have been advised of the obligations of confidentiality and are under obligations of
confidentiality substantially similar to those set out in this Agreement.

Return or destruction of confidential information is required in the event that
either party terminates their NDA Agreement. Receiving Party shall:
(i) cease using the Confidential information, and
(ii) destroy everything within seven business days of receipt of the termination

Before Install
What You Should Know:
 Installing CCX 8.0 on an existing server will format the hard drive and erase all
contents on the server.
 For HA systems, install CCX on the first node (publisher) first and then the
second node (subscriber).
 Make sure the server is supported – approved MCS, B or C series UCS server.
Consult compatibility matrix for complete list of supported servers.
 Hardware requirements:
• 146 GB min hard disk
• 2 GB min RAM
• CCX 8.0 runs is based on Linux-based UCOS, aka appliance model.
 You will need access to a browser on a client to access CCX AppAdmin. IE (6.0
or later) and Firefox (2.0 or later) supported.

Changes in CCX 8.0
 CCX 8.0 uses node-locked licenses, which means a license is tied to
the server.
 CCX 8.0 license is based on “license MAC”, not physical MAC.
 License MAC depends inputs such as IP address, host name, NTP
server etc.
 License MAC is used for both virtual and native deployments.
 License MAC can be obtained before and after install:

Answer File Generator
 Answer File Generator is used for unattended installs.
 Go to http://www.cisco.com/web/cuc_afg/index.html
 Select Cisco Unified CCX from product selection.
 Provide input such as IP address of CCX server, host name etc.
 Generate the answer file.
 Answer file will contain License MAC and other info.
 Save the answer file on a USB memory stick or floppy disk so you can
use it for an unattended install.

Register PAK
 To obtain your CCX license, you need to register the PAK you
received with your CCX order.
 Go to http://www.cisco.com/go/license
 You will be asked to enter the License MAC of the first node in the
CCX cluster.
 Your license file will be emailed to you.
 Do not edit the license file as it will invalidate the license.

 Types of install: DVD, Unattended and Factory Install.
 DVD:
You install CCX from the DVD and provide platform information during install.
 Unattended:
Unattended install uses the Answer File Generator.
Go to http://www.cisco.com/web/cuc_afg/index.html.
Provide the requested information.
Save the “platformConfig.xml” file generated on a USB memory stick or floppy disk
in the root directory.
During the CCX install and you will not be prompted for any platform information.

 If the HA deployment is over WAN, you will need to additional information.
 Provide the AXL, CM Telephony (JTAPI) and RmCm provider information for
the second node.
 As best practice, configure each CCX node to use a local AXL, CM
Telephony and RmCm provider to minimize WAN traffic.
 Provide the user name and password of the providers specified when
configuring the first node.
 Click Next and the setup window displays.
 You will be reminded to create the call control groups (CTI port groups) for
the second node (In a WAN deployment, call control groups are nodespecific).
 Remember to run the Client Configuration Tool again after adding the
second CCX node.

Upgrading from CCX 5.0(2)/7.0(1) to CCX 8.0(1)/8.0(2)
 Direct upgrades supported from CCX versions 5.0(2) and 7.0(1)
 Pre-requisites:
Obtain upgrade license. Upgrade license is used with the original license, and both are
uploaded on the CCX 8.0 system.
Make sure you have access to an SFTP server where the back-up is stored
Make sure you have enough disk space on the SFTP server

Unified CCX 8.0 Upgrade Phases
 Backup phase
•
It is recommended that you perform a regular backup of the existing system
(use “Backup & Restore” feature of CCX).
•
Use the Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT) to create a backup that will be restored on
the 8.0 system.
•
PUT is available for download from
http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/download/index.html
•
Make sure all nodes are up and running.
•
You will need to provide SFTP path, server, user name and password.
•
PUT tool will indicate how much space you will need on the SFTP server.

 Restore phase
•
Specify “Upgrade from a previous UCCX release” during initial setup of first
node right after install.
•
Enter the SFTP server, path, username and password.
•
Make sure you have an upgrade license.
•
Restore has 2 phases. Phase 1 restores config data. Phase 2 restores
historical data.

Phase 2 can run in the background. You can check on the status from Tools>Windows Upgrade.
•
Perform a Cisco JTAPI resync to make sure the JTAPI client on CCX has the
right version

Run the Desktop Client Configuration tool to create the MSI installers for the
desktops.
 Post Restore phase
•
Add second node if you have an HA system.
•
Only the second node only after the upgrade on the first node completed
successfully
