Pupils locate the countries on a blank world map using 6 figure co-ordinates. What do they notice? Does anyone know how far away these places are? Look at the scale on the map and work out how far the journey is from Wales. (link to Maths) Introduce the idea of fair trade and how it relates to cotton. Explain that the trading of cotton is not always fair on those who grow it. Talk about what ‘fair’ means in this context. Work for most children: Ask the children to find out as much as they can about cotton production using ICT. Bring everyone together and talk about the children’s discoveries.
