Statute of Limitations
For breaches of Contract: 6 years (s14(1)(a) of Limitation Act 1969) and 12 years if cause of action founded on
a deed (s16 of Limitation Act 1969)
For Tort: 6 years (s14(1)(b) of Limitation Act 1969)
For Personal Injury (common law claim) : 3 years from the date when the cause of action is discoverable or 12
years from the time when the act or omission causing injury or death occurred (s50C(1)(a) & (b) ) Limitation Act
1969)
(* Note - for personal injury limitation periods prior to 6/12/02 refer to s18A and S14 of Limitation Act 1969)
