Establish a Council of Environmental
Quality
(invoked when airports, buildings, military
complexes, highways, parkland
purchases, and other federal activities
are proposed )
- Requires Environmental Assessments
(EA’s) and Environmental Impact
statements (EIS) from all federal
agencies.

This Act affects all
Environmental issues, because
it makes the government
consider the impact that any
policies will have on the
environment
ex. oil drilling, global
warming, habitat and species
protection
The Council of Environmental
Quality (CEQ)
 Issues guidelines for
EIS to federal agencies
 Coordinates/regulates
federal agencies and
programs related to the
environment
(excluding congress,
judiciary, and
