Illinois – Eastern Iowa District of Circle K International: Plains and Shawnee Division Newsletter Plains and Shawnee Division Lt Governor Newsletter July 2012 ICON Wrap-Up/New I-Board Hi there Plains and Shawnee Divisions! I hope you are all having a wonderful summer and Fourth of July ! A few days ago, members from the Illinois-Eastern Iowa (I-I) District returned from the Circle K International Convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana. At this convention, members participated in workshops, completed service projects including Habitat for Humanity house building and more at Large Scale Service Project, and elected the newest members of our International Board. Governor Sabrena Lopez, Secretary Kevin Huang, and Editor Morgan Sarver having fun at ICON. The election of the International Board proved to be a special moment for the I-I District as Daniel Tsang of Loyola University was elected International Vice President! Josephine Lukito of the New York District was elected to serve as our International President and Cody Schara of the WisconsinUpper Michigan (WUM) District will be out Subregion C International Trustee which represents I-I, WUM, Indiana, Michigan, and Minnesota-Dakotas Districts. International Convention was not just for Circle K, but Kiwanis International and Aktion Club also held their conventions in New Orleans as well. This allowed members to see different aspects of each convention. The I-I District will also have a representative on the Kiwanis International Board as Jim Rochford of the Peoria Kiwanis was elected International Trustee for three years. Kiwanis Family District Large Scale Service Project-Northern Illinois University-DeKalb, IL, July 14 K-Family DLSSP (Summer Social) and New Clubs! Upcoming District Event: I-I Summer Social and Kiwanis Family District Large Scale Service Project What: Come join the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District for a day filled with fun, and service. Service projects will be taking place throughout the DeKalb area including going to a soup kitchen, working with youth, animals, and the elderly. No matter what group you like working with, you will have a fun time! After the service, come join us for a disco-themed dance-a-thon with proceeds benefiting the ELIMINATE project. Be sure to wear your apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur and other 70’s themed attire! Rasmussen College: Located in Romeoville, IL and set to join the Plains Division, Rasmussen is a brand-new charter of Circle K. The club recently began completing service projects this past semester that included Relay for Life and March of Dimes Walk.
