SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
Patients taking furosemide may require a larger dose to
achieve desired effects in the acute setting. However, IV
doses of furosemide are not subject to first pass
metabolism making its effects greater. Cardiac
monitoring should be performed. The onset of venous
dilation is approximately 5 minutes and the onset of urine
production is approximately 10 minutes.
