to meet the high demand in the coming years for quality skilled workers in the Landscape Design & Construction Industry, Stephen Lewis is excited to offer this unique program. The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) at SLSS involves students completing a package of courses that meets the needs of all students with an interest in developing the skills necessary for a career in the Landscape Design & Construction Industry. The Landscape Design & Construction Industry acknowledges and supports the program through certification and appropriate industry placements. In order to complete a SHSM in Landscape Design & Construction students: 1. complete a package of 9 specific courses (see chart below). 2. complete Industry Certification. 3. obtain job experience (e.g. co-op work experience, job shadowing, job twinning). 4. document the industry essential skills using the Ontario Skills Passport. 5. gain “Reach Ahead Experience” (e.g. through an apprenticeship program or post secondary institution).
