PROGRAM OVERVIEW

SCALE & ACE Programs

• Overview:

• Cooperative, concurrent, cost effective programs offered between C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and select secondary schools in the New York area.

• Enable highly qualified high school seniors and juniors to enroll in regularly accredited C.W. Post undergraduate courses and to earn college credits while remaining in their high school setting.

• SCALE/ACE Scholarship :

• Incoming freshmen who have taken 6 or more SCALE/ACE credits, and maintained a

3.0 ("B") average or better are eligible for a $5,000 annual scholarship, renewable up to $20,000 (over 4 years).

• SCALE/ACE Tuition:

• The tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $130.00 per credit ($390.00 for a 3 credit course, $520.00 for a 4 credit course)

Difference Between SCALE & ACE

• SCALE originated from CW Post Campus, while ACE originated from the Southampton Campus.

• SCALE includes active CW Post faculty involvement in the courses.

• SCALE courses must have a minimum of 15 students per class registered for college credit.

ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS

ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS

1. Go to https://apply.liu.edu/hs

2. Select your high school.

3. Create your student account.

4. Log in to your account

5. Fill out the SCALE/ACE application.

6. “ SAVE ” your application.*

DO NOT “ SUBMIT ” THE APPLICATION until you have reviewed it with a parent or guardian. Once you submit your application, you will automatically be registered for the course(s) you selected, and no changes can be made to your application.

7. After you have discussed the program with a parent or guardian, and have checked off ALL courses you will register for, you can “ SUBMIT ” the application.

8. Print out your confirmation page.

9. Follow the directions on the confirmation page to make the necessary payments by the due dates.

*Changes can be made only at this stage

Go to https://apply.liu.edu/hs & select your high school.

Create your student account & then login. (Steps 3 & 4)

When you have completed the sign up and click “continue” this is the message you will get so you know you can continue to step 4

Fill out the application

Enter Parent Information & Discuss The Program With Them (Step 6)

Only one parent’s information has to be entered

Accept “Terms of Agreement”

(Step 7)

*NOTE* Do not “Submit” the application until a parent has reviewed the information.

An application can only be changed in the

“Save” status.

Terms of Agreement

(Taken Directly From the Online Application)

1. The tuition for the 2010-2011 year* is $130.00 per credit ($390.00 for a 3 credit course or $520.00 for a 4 credit course). Bills are to be paid in full by November 1 for fall and full year courses and by March 1 for spring courses. Payments should include:

• the student's Social Security number.

full name.

• Checks or money orders should be made out to "Long Island University" and sent to:

2. There is a one-time, non-refundable, $30.00 application fee for new SCALE/ACE students; this fee should be included in your tuition payment.

3. A Student, who wishes to drop a course for college credit, must submit a completed S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. drop from the S.C.A.L.E./A.C.E. office by

November 15th for full year or fall course, and by April 15th for a spring course. After these dates no drops are processed.

4. Address questions about transfer of credit to the receiving institution.

5. For an official transcript, visit the C.W.Post "My L.I.U." on the website (www.liu.edu) or call 1-847-716-3000.

6. Eligible students are high school juniors and seniors who have maintained a cumulative unweighted 80 average or better in the five core academic areas: English, history, math, science, and foreign languages, throughout their high school careers.

* Tuition is for the 2010-2011 academic year and will likely increase for subsequent years.

Questions That May Arise:

Transcripts, Parent Signatures, Collecting Checks

• Transcripts and parent/guardian signatures are not needed.

• By accepting the “Terms of Agreement” during the online registration process, they are confirming they understand the cost and eligibility requirements listed.

• Payment will also verify acceptance of terms.

• There will be no checks collected

• Application fees will be sent directly to C.W. Post.

Once Logged in, a student will see their “Self Service” Page

To Begin: Go to https://my.liu.edu & Login

Enter your login information and sign in

Go to your “Self Service” Module

Click Here

Choose Your “Faculty Center”

Select this option to get to your main page

Make Sure You Are In The Correct Term

(Fall 2010 for fall and full year classes & Spring 2011 for spring classes)

Click on this button if you are not in the correct tern

Approving the Roster

This is the MOST IMPORTANT STEP; if this is not done, no grades will go through!

ALL students must have a grade or the approval will not take!

At the top of the page change the

Approval Status to “APPROVED”

Then go to the bottom of the page & RE-SAVE!

Print A Copy of Your Grade Roster!

At the bottom of the page you will be able to print a copy of your grade roster.
