Scepter Q. Brownlee Motivated, professional, spirit-filled, organized, and passionate about basketball! With over 6 years of Division 1 experience, Coach Scepter Q. Brownlee knows exactly what it takes to build a winning program from a dual perspective. As a standout Point Guard for the University of San Francisco and former Division 1 Coach, his dedication to commitment, hard work, Christian faith, and an evolving skill set have afforded him success as both a NCAA player and collegiate coach. This allows him the ability to easily identify, understand, and develop the dynamics of a great player both on and off of the court! Coach Brownlee comes to King's Ridge Christian School after building a successful athletic training business. Great Day Basketball LLC, founded in 2011, focused on fundamental basketball development from beginner level through professional athletes. His purpose has always been teaching the necessary skills required to become excellent ballplayers. However, his most important assignment has been promoting spiritual growth in his athletes, pushing them to be even better people! Having trained over 150 athletes throughout his career, he has developed a unique system of absolute improvement that he is excited about instilling into King's Ridge scholar-athletes from grades K-12th. In addition, he has been given the privilege of learning under several great coaches on his journey. Most recently, he worked closely as an Assistant Coach with Head Coach Rod Barnes from 2007 through 2011 at Georgia State University. While there, Coach Brownlee assisted in rebuilding a collegiate basketball program amidst academic, administrative, and Conference turmoil. During that four year period, Georgia State graduated 11 players, raised the program APR, and accumulated a consistent team GPA of nearly 3.0 by the end of their tenure. At Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), Coach Brownlee assisted Head Coach Scott Edgar in all aspects of recruiting, on-court coaching, and player development while serving as the team’s Academic Liaison. Brownlee spent the 2005-06 season as a Graduate Manager at the University of Tennessee. There, he worked under "National Coach of the Year" Bruce Pearl, and helped the Volunteers attain one of their most successful seasons in history. Ranked as high as #8 in the nation during the season, Tennessee posted a 22-8 record and earned #2 National seed recognition in the NCAA Tournament. He began his coaching career at Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas, serving as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator in 2004-05. Two players that he recruited earned All-Conference Honors as freshmen, including the League Freshman of the Year, Jamal Warren. A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Coach Brownlee grew up in a Christian school atmosphere throughout high school. He was a two-year letter-winner leading the team as a Point Guard at the University of San Francisco. As a result of his focused tenacity, he garnered four athletic awards his senior 2003 season: The Arthur Zief Most Inspirational Player Award, the Sixth Man Club Team Captain Award, the Coaching Staff Senior Award, and the Jackie Robinson USF African American Athlete of the Year Award. Brownlee earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of San Francisco in 2003.
