Job Description: Junior High Basketball Coach Definition: Organize, manage and coach team following ASAA guidelines and rules. Reports to: Site Principal Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Basketball coaching experience preferred. Must have valid Alaska driver’s license. Job Duties: 1. Support the mission and vision of the Yukon-Koyukuk School District 2. Attend all school practices, games, tournaments, meetings etc. 3. Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behaviors at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students. 4. Establish performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport. 5. Assume responsibility for conduct of contestants in sport involved. 6. Cooperate with Tribal, School administration, athletic director, fellow coaches and students to promote the best interests of the entire athletic program. 7. Prepare and maintain a roster of all team members. 8. Ensure facility regulations are understood and safety is enforced. 9. Follow ASAA rules and regulations. 10. The varsity coach will be responsible for all aspects of the basketball program including planning and conducting practice, tracking student paperwork, coaching and student supervision at matches and tournaments, and assist in coordinating fundraising activities. 11. Assist in scheduling games and tournaments. Working Environment & Equipment Used: The physical demands include: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant reaching, handling, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, and sitting, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Some evening and weekend work will be required; Some travel in small aircraft required. Must be computer and technology literate.
