In addition to the above core courses, students complete 6 credits of general education courses and 15 credits of
emergency and security management electives such as Safety & Security Management for Major Events, Exercise
Program Management, Mitigation and Current Trends in Security & Disaster Management.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Graduates of the JIBC’s Emergency Management Certificate Program and Exercise Design Certificate
Program automatically receive credit in the degree program. Credit may also be awarded for courses taken
in other JIBC programs.
