AP Physics 2 2015-‐2016 Course Description: AP Physics 2 is an algebra-‐based, introductory college-‐level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of Physics through inquiry-‐based investigations as they explore topics such as fluid statics and dynamics; thermodynamics with kinetic theory; PV diagrams and probability; electrostatics; electrical circuits with capacitors; magnetic fields; electromagnetism; physical and geometric optics; and quantum, atomic, and nuclear physics. Make-‐up Work: All assignments, quizzes and tests are to be completed within x + 1 days, where x is the number of days you were absent, unless you have made a different arrangement with your teacher on the first day of your return. Evaluation: ◊ Typically there will be one or two major test every 6 weeks (refer to schedule on the back.) ◊ Students will use the room calculators for all unit exams. ◊ Six weeks grades will be based on : 60% Tests & Quizzes and 40% Labs, Activities, and Homework ◊ Grading Scale: Grades at term are not “negotiable”. At the end of the semester individuals with borderline grades with all work completed will be evaluated at that time. Please refrain from asking your teacher to “bump” grades.
