DANUBE AND DELTA
International Fair for the
Development of Danube
Macro-region
JUNE 23-26, 2011
FIRST EDITION
The European Commission approved in
2010 a European strategy to develop the
economic potential for the Danube macroregion, targeting eight EU Member States
and six other European countries.
Considering this context, this year
Romexpo, under the patronage of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania
and with the support of The Romanian
Chamber of Commerce, the expo aims to
launch on the local and European market a
new fair concept according to the new EU
initiative: DANUBE
&
DELTA
International fair for the Developing of
Danube macro-region. During DANUBE
& DELTA 2011 several additional events
will take place conferences, workshops,
seminars, debates and The Danube
Navigation Forum. All the events are
organized by governmental institutions and
NGOs directly involved in Danube area
development projects.

ROMANIAN
ECONOMIC MISSION
TO CALGARY
Between June 5 and June 10, 2011, a
Romanian economic mission will take
part in the Gas & Oil Expo and
Conference, in Calgary in order to
promote on the Canadian and US markts
business opportunities of the Romanian
industry.

THEATRE FESTIVAL
SIBIU, ROMANIA
May 27 – June 5, 2011
The International Theatre Festival is the
most prominent annual performing arts
event in Romania and the third in Europe in
terms of size and relevance.
Past EVENTS
May 23, 2011 – Romania was
represented on the International Stage
of the Tulip Festival in Ottawa by
artists of the Canadian-Romanian
community from Ottawa-Gatineau
region.
POETRY AND MUSIC
Romanian actor Ion Caramitru and
musician Aurelian Octav Popa
(clarinette) will stop in Canada on their
North-American tour.
The performance “Dor de Eminescu”
will be presented in Montreal, on 30
Jun 2011 (8.00 p.m -Pavillon de
l'Entrepôt) and in Toronto, on July 2
( 7.00 p.m., at Dante Aligheri
Academy)

The festival will celebrate its 18th edition
featuringthe theme "COMMUNITIES".
Sibiu has always been a place for the
spectacular. Thus, in recognition of the city’s
cultural excellence, Sibiu was granted the
title of European Capital of Culture in
2007.The 2011 program of the Festival
continues the tradition of outstanding
cultural events.
The cultural offer of this edition is rich and
varied and will stage major international
productions, the finest productions in
Romanian theatre, as well as street and
music performances from around the world,
all taking place daily, in Sibiu's historical
centre, squares and buildings, inside the
churches and the medieval fortresses of
Sibiu's scenic surroundings.

Thanks to the involvement of
Romanian-Canadian
Association,
Ottawa-Gatineau Region, Romanian
food and tradtional objects were
available at the Food Bazaar and in
the International Pavilion.
