The school day is from 9:05 to 3:55. Students may not enter the school building before 8:35am unless they have prearranged it with a teacher. When the bell rings at 3:55, bus riders are dismissed first. After the buses are gone,
walkers and car riders are dismissed.
What if …
I need to check my child out early
We do not require notification ahead of time that your child will be leaving early. The Attendance office has a yellow
counter that is located in the foyer as you walk in the front door. Parents checking out a student should be prepared
to show a driver’s license and will be asked to sign their student out indicating the reason for leaving early. The
Attendance clerk will call the student for dismissal (please allow approximately 5 minutes for a student to come from
their classroom and locker). PLEASE NOTE that students will only be released to parents/guardians and those on the
pink student release form that is filled out at the beginning of the school year. If you are taking your child to an
appointment, a note is required from the dr./dentist/etc. in order to excuse the absence. If you will be signing your
child out due to illness, please fill out a parent note located at the Attendance desk. PLEASE NOTE: Beaumont does
not call children down and have them waiting when the parent arrives. As a matter of safety, the Attendance Clerk
calls students from the classroom when the parent has signed the student exit log and shown identification.
My child will be late to school
Parents are welcome to walk in with their child and check them in but it is not required. If the student has a note from
either the parent or an appointment, they may check themselves in at the Attendance window.
My child will be absent:
While not required, we do appreciate a phone call from a parent letting us know why your child will be absent. This
helps us better monitor widespread illnesses such as flu, strep, etc. An automated line makes calls daily to the
parent/guardian of students who are marked absent. The Attendance phone has voicemail to accept absence calls
any time of day. Please note that either a parent note or dr/dentist/etc. note is required for all absences. Fayette
County policy allows for an unlimited amount of dr./dentist notes to be turned in. A maximum of 10 parent notes may
be turned in to excuse absences. After 10 parent notes, all notes must be a dr./dentist/etc. note in order for the
absence to be excused. If a note is not received, the absence will be considered unexcused. If a student
accumulates 3 unexcused absences, he/she will be considered truant per policy in the State of Kentucky and a letter
will be sent home as a warning. Another warning letter goes home when 6 unexcused absences have accumulated.
If a student accumulates 10 unexcused absences, he/she will be referred to the Director of Pupil Personnel for action.
Students may drop absence notes in the mailbox on the counter in front of the Attendance window.
My child wants to ride home on a bus with a friend:
A note from a parent/guardian is required. Please include in the note the following: date, bus # (if known), the student
your child will be going home with, a parent/guardian signature, indication of whether it will be a morning or afternoon
transportation change, and a phone number where you may be reached that day. Please have your child bring the
note to the front office when they arrive at school in the morning. The office will then make a call to the
parent/guardian to confirm the bus change and will give the student a “bus pass” to give to the bus driver. PLEASE
NOTE that bus drivers will not allow a new student to rider his/her bus without a “bus pass” from the office. We do
accept notes that are faxed to us at 381-3109. We cannot accept emails for a bus note as a signature is required on
the note. Also, we cannot accept a phone call in lieu of a note.
I need childcare before school
The YMCA offers a morning childcare program. To obtain information regarding this program, please call the YMCA
at 226-0393. Childcare after school is not offered.
I want or need to leave medication for my child:
Prior to leaving any medication (prescription or over-the-counter), forms must be filled out by the parent/guardian and
signed by a physician. Please see the Registrar in the office for the forms.
I need to know what health forms need to be turned in:
1. A physical examination is required to be done within one year prior to or 30 days after entering sixth grade. (The
KHSAA Sports Physical Form & Consent is a different form and cannot be substituted.) 2. A current, updated
Kentucky Immunization Certificate is required.
My child wants to participate in sports:
Any student who wants to participate in sports at Beaumont must have a current sports physical on file in the front
office prior to any participation, which includes any clinics and tryouts. A sports physical must be on the Kentucky
High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) form. This form is available in the office and at www.beaumont.fcps.net
under the “Athletics” tab. Many doctors’ offices also have the KHSAA forms. PLEASE NOTE that a 6th grade
physical does not fulfill the requirement of a sports physical.
I would like to receive the Colt News
The Colt News is an electronic newsletter with school wide information that is sent out daily. If you would like to
receive this newsletter, please visit www.beaumont.fcps.net and scroll to the bottom of the main page to sign up.
I would like access to Parent Portal:
If you would like access online to view your student’s grades and attendance, please email:
parent.portal@fayette.kyschools.us. Please indicate your student’s name, school and date of birth and request a
password in order to log on to the parent portal. An easy way to access the parent portal is to go to www.fcps.net and
click on parent/student portal.
I would like homework when my child is absent:
Teachers generally do not get homework together for absent students until the student has missed 3 consecutive
days. In the event that your student misses a day or two, you may go to www.beaumont.fcps.net and find your
student’s team to obtain homework. You may also call the Homework Hotline at 381-3101 and enter the access code
for his/her team and listen to the message. The following are access codes for teams: Triple Crown Winners: 6001,
Pegasus: 6002, Stampede: 6003, Equestrians: 7001, Champions: 7002, Thoroughbreds: 7003, Pacesetters: 8001,
Class Act: 8002, Winning Colors: 8003
My child has gym as an elective or plays on an intramural team:
Please note that lockers in the gym locker rooms do not have built-in locks. If your child has gym as an elective class
or plays intramurals, we strongly recommend sending a combination lock for them to use. This is recommended for
the protection of students’ valuables such as money, calculators, cell phones and other electronic devices.
I have a missed call from a number with a 381 prefix:
All of our outgoing calls go out on a few trunk lines which end with 3104, 3105, 3106, and 3095. These numbers do
not accept incoming calls. To call the school, please use one of the numbers listed at the top of the previous page.
Also, please encourage your student to leave a message when they call home. Many students hang up without
leaving a message which results in additional missed class time.
I would like to see the Beaumont Dress Policy:
Please visit www.beaumont.fcps.net and click on “School Info” and “Student Handbook”.
I would like to send flowers or other deliveries to my child at school: Students are not allowed to receive flowers
or balloon deliveries in the classroom. Deliveries of this type will be sent back to the florist.
My students has lost something: The “Lost & Found” is located in the front office. Please consider looking there if
your child is missing an item. Additionally, please put your child’s name on their personal belongings including their
lunch box/bag so that items can be easily returned to them if they are brought to the Lost & Found.
