By Kayla Fitzgerald TAKE 5 It’s 8AM on a Saturday morning! You jump out of bed and throw on jeans, a T-shirt, a zip up sweatshirt, a pair of sneakers, and a baseball cap. But first things first, time for breakfast at The Breakfast Club, better get going the line is always out the door! 10AM: Time to go, the duck tour leaves promptly at 10:45AM. After seeing awesome sights and getting great laughs from your tour guide it’s time for some lunch! Time to head to the seaport to find some New England clam chowder! 2:45PM? YIKES! The baseball game starts at 3:30PM, we need to get to Fenway ASAP, let’s jump on the T! Did that sound like an amazingly awesome fun filled day? If so you need to visit Boston, Massachusetts. 45158-01 Boston, Massachusetts is located in the northeastern part of the United States. Boston is a lively city filled with many college students! There are 53 colleges within the Boston area and on average about a quarter million students live in the area. I should know! I attended one of those 53 colleges. Go Lasell Lasers! Boston is a great city to visit! Over eighteen million tourists visit Boston each year! Who can blame them? Shopping on Newbury Street, catching a Celtics, Bruins or Red Sox game, checking out the Museum of Fine Arts, going on a Duck Tour, walking The Freedom Trail, and you can grab a bowl of New England clam chowder for a ballpark price of less than $5! I don’t think you can beat that! 1) The famous Citgo sign contains five miles worth of neon light tubing to light it up. 2) Boston had the very first public school in the United States. 3) Boston is the home of the first subway in the United States. It was made in 1897. 4) Harvard was the first college in North America and was founded in the year 1636. 5) The Boston Burger Company hails as one of the best 15 hamburgers in the United States by Diners, Drive- In’s and Dive’s television show. I’ve eaten there plenty of times! Get the Vermonster Burger! It is topped with maple mayo, caramelized apples, onions, cheddar cheese, maple syrup and bacon! Mapping Activity Location: Boston is relative located in Eastern Massachusetts. Boston has a large bay that opens out into the Atlantic Ocean. Its absolute location is 42º 35’ N, 71º 05’ W Place: Boston is the capital of Massachusetts. It is also the largest city in New England coming in at forty eight square miles. Human-Environment Interaction: Boston is known for many things, however its large college population makes Boston a fun place for young adults to start out. Movement: Boston is a busy city. You can get around easily by using the T (train) or a bus! In Boston many people also ride bikes and walk from place to place and don’t forget about taxi’s! Region: Boston is located in the Northeast Region of the United States.
