As Simba grows, Mufasa teaches him about being king. During a tour of the Pride Lands, Simba asks about a shadowy place; Mufasa tells him it is beyond their borders and that Simba must never go there. The lesson is cut short when Zazu, Mufasa's Hornbill adviser, informs him that hyenas have entered the Pride Lands. Mufasa tells Zazu to take Simba home while he gets rid of the hyenas. Later that day, Scar tells Simba that the shadowy place is in fact an elephant graveyard. Simba's curiosity is piqued, and he convinces his best friend Nala, a female lion cub, to come with him. Sarabi sends Zazu to keep an eye on the two cubs, but they soon leave him behind. They finally reach the elephant graveyard, where they come upon three spotted hyenas, Shenzi, Banzai and Ed. The hyenas who try to kill the cubs, but during the ensuing chase, Mufasa arrives to rescue them. Mufasa sends Nala and Zazu back to Pride Rock, while he admonishes Simba. Later he teaches Simba about the stars, telling him that they represent all the great kings of the past and will always be there to guide him. Meanwhile, Scar plots with the hyenas to take over the Pride Lands. On Scar's orders, the hyenas stampede a large pack of grazing wildebeest into a gorge; in their panic, the wildebeests do not notice Simba ahead of them. Scar informs Mufasa of Simba's predicament, and Mufasa successfully rescues Simba. However, as Mufasa attempts to exit the gorge himself by climbing its walls, Scar refuses his request for assistance and throws him back into the gorge, resulting in his death. Scar tricks Simba into believing that Mufasa's death resulted from the cub's carelessness. Ashamed, Simba flees the Pride Lands, intending to never return. In Simba's absence, Scar steps forward as Mufasa's rightful heir and becomes the new King. Simba collapses in the wasteland after his escape, but is found by Timon, a meerkat, and Pumbaa, a warthog. The duo nurse him back to health and take him in, teaching him their motto, "hakuna matata" (interpreted as "no worries"). Years later, as an adult, Simba rescues Timon and Pumbaa from a hungry lioness, only to discover the lioness is Nala. She expresses her delight at finding Simba, and informs him of how Scar's irresponsibility as King of the Pride Lands is leading to the suffering of its inhabitants. Still feeling guilt over his father's death, Simba refuses to return. The wise Rafiki tracks Simba down. He summons Mufasa's ghost in the sky for Simba; the ghost tells Simba that he must return to the Pride Lands and take his place as king. Simba refuses, but as he vanishes Mufasa tells him that he is his son and the one true king, and to remember this. Simba returns to Pride Rock with Nala, Timon and Pumbaa, who all agree to help him fight. While Timon and Pumbaa distract the hyena guardians, Simba confronts Scar on Pride Rock. Scar forces Simba towards the edge of Pride Rock and reveals that he killed Mufasa. Enraged, Simba leaps back up and pins Scar, forcing Scar to confess his crime to the other lions. The truth now revealed, a fight ensues between the hyenas and lionesses while Simba confronts Scar alone at the top of Pride Rock. Scar begs Simba for mercy, accusing the hyenas of planning everything. The good-natured Simba spares Scar, but the latter betrays the younger lion's trust and attacks once again. The ensuing fight ends when Simba throws Scar off a cliff. Scar survives the fall, but is attacked and immediately killed by the hyenas, who overheard his attempt to betray them. With Scar and the hyenas gone, Simba is greeted by his mother and Nala. Simba walks up Pride Rock and remembers Mufasa, then lets out a powerful roar in which all the lionesses join. In time, Pride Rock is restored to its former glory and Simba looks down happily at his kingdom with Nala, Timon, and Pumbaa by his side; Rafiki presents Simba and Nala's newborn cub to the inhabitants of the Pride Lands and the circle of life continues. Aladdin Abu the Monkey Genie Iago the Parrot Princess Jasmine Sultan of Agraba Grand Vizier Jafar Razour the Head Palace Guard Aladdin Plot Jafar, Grand Vizier to the Sultan of Agrabah, is attempting to retrieve a magical oil lamp containing a genie from the Cave of Wonders. After seeing a petty thief's failed attempt to enter the cave, Jafar and his parrot Iago, learn that only a "Diamond in the Rough" can enter the cave. Jasmine, the Sultan's daughter, frustrated with her life in the palace, flees to Agrabah's marketplace. There she meets street rat Aladdin and his monkey, Abu. The two discover they have a lot in common. When Aladdin is detained for thievery, Jasmine orders him released, but Jafar lies to her that Aladdin has been executed. Disguised as an elder, Jafar releases Aladdin and Abu from prison and lead them to the Cave of Wonders. The tiger-shaped head of the cave says to touch nothing but the lamp. Aladdin and Abu enter the cave, where a magic carpet guides them to the lamp. Abu's attempt to steal a ruby causes the cave to start collapsing, but the carpet flies them to the entrance. As Aladdin delivers the lamp, Jafar tries to kill him, but Abu bites Jafar and gets the lamp back as he, the carpet, and Aladdin fall back into the cave just as it closes. In the collapsed cave, Aladdin rubs the lamp, unleashing the Genie, who reveals he will grant Aladdin three wishes—with the exception of killing anyone, making anyone fall in love, or bringing back the dead. Aladdin tricks the Genie into freeing them from the cave without using a wish. While contemplating his wishes, Genie admits he would wish for freedom, since he is a prisoner to his lamp. Aladdin promises to free the Genie for his last wish. After talking about Jasmine with the Genie, Aladdin decides to use his first wish to become a prince so he can woo Jasmine. Aladdin returns to Agrabah just as Jafar tries to trick the Sultan into arranging a marriage between himself and Jasmine. When Aladdin parades into the Sultan's palace as "Prince Ali", Jasmine rejects Ali as a suitor. Despite the Genie's suggestion that Aladdin to tell the princess who he really is, Aladdin remains the suave prince, and takes Jasmine around the world on the magic carpet. During the trip, Jasmine exposes Ali as the Aladdin, and demands the truth from him. Aladdin instead fabricates a story that he sometimes dresses as a commoner to escape palace life. The couple kisses as Aladdin returns her home. Afterwards, Aladdin is captured by Jafar and thrown into the ocean, but the Genie rescues Aladdin as his second wish. Aladdin returns to the palace and exposes Jafar's plot—and Jafar flees after noticing the lamp in Aladdin's possession, realizing who Aladdin is. As Aladdin gets doubtful about revealing who really is, Iago steals Genie's lamp and brings it to Jafar, who becomes Genie's new master. Jafar uses his first two wishes to become Sultan and the most powerful sorcerer in the world. Using his new powers, Jafars forces Jasmine and her father to bow, exposes Aladdin as a street rat, then exiles him and Abu to a frozen wasteland. Aladdin uses the magic carpet to return to Agrabah, where Jafar has imprisoned both Jasmine and the Sultan as his slaves. Jasmine distracts Jafar with a seductive act as Aladdin tries to steal back the lamp, but Jafar confronts him. He imprisons Jasmine in a large hourglass and turns himself into an enormous cobra. As Jafar traps Aladdin in his coils, he boasts to be "the most powerful being on Earth", which causes Aladdin to shout out that the Genie is more powerful. Faced with this realization, Jafar uses his final wish to become a genie. However, Jafar discovers that genies are not free entities as he is sucked into a black lamp, dragging Iago with him. The Genie flicks the lamp into the Cave of Wonders. After Aladdin realizes that he cannot keep pretending to be something he is not, he decides to keep his promise and wish for the Genie's freedom. Seeing Jasmine's love for Aladdin, the Sultan changes the law to allow her to marry whomever she deems worthy. The newly free Genie leaves to explore the world while Aladdin and Jasmine celebrate their engagement. Source: “Aladdin (1992 Disney film)”. Belle Chip Beast Lefou Gaston Philippe Lumiere Wardrobe Cogsworth Babette Mrs. Potts Stove Maurice Bookseller Monsier D’Arque Beauty and the Beast Plot An enchantress disguised as an old beggar woman offers a young prince a rose in exchange for a night's shelter. When he turns her away, she punishes him by transforming him into an ugly Beast and turning his servants into furniture and other household items. She gives him a magic mirror that will enable him to view faraway events, and she gives him the rose, which will bloom until his twenty-first birthday. He must love and be loved in return before all the rose's petals have fallen off, or he will remain a Beast forever. 10 years later, a young, beautiful woman known as Belle comes along, living in a nearby French village with her father Maurice, who is an inventor. Belle loves reading and yearns for a life beyond the village. She is pursued by the arrogant local hero, Gaston, but has no interest in him, despite the fact that he is the most handsome man in town, is sought after by all the single females and is considered godlike in perfection by the male population of the town. When Maurice rides through the woods to display his latest invention, a wood-chopping machine, at a fair, he gets lost on the way and is chased by wolves before stumbling upon the Beast's castle, where he meets the transformed servants Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts and her son Chip. The Beast imprisons Maurice, but Belle, shortly after declining Gaston's proposal for marriage, is led back to the castle by Maurice's horse and offers to take her father's place. When the Beast agrees to this and sends him home, Maurice tells Gaston and the other villagers what happened, but they think he has lost his mind. At the castle, the Beast orders Belle to dine with him, but she refuses, and Lumiere disobeys his order not to let her eat. After Cogsworth gives her a tour of the castle, she finds the rose in the forbidden west wing and the Beast angrily chases her away. Frightened, she tries to escape, but she and her horse are attacked by wolves. After the Beast rescues her, she nurses his wounds, and he begins to develop feelings for her. He decides to make it up to her and show her the library at Lumiere's suggestion, which impresses Belle and they become friends. They grow closer as they spend more time together and the servants take it upon themselves to clean up the castle and create a romantic evening for them. Back in the village, Gaston, after hearing Maurice's story about Belle being imprisoned by the Beast, pays the manager of the town's insane asylum to lock up Maurice unless Belle agrees to Gaston's marriage proposal and orders his cohort LeFou to wait at the doorstep until they return after discovering their house empty. Back at the castle Belle and the Beast get dressed up, have an elegant dinner and a romantic ballroom dance. The Beast notices Belle seems depressed and he lets her use the magic mirror; she sees her father, who was trying to rescue her from the castle, dying in the woods. With only hours left before the rose wilts, the Beast allows her to leave to rescue her father, giving her the mirror to remember him by. This horrifies the servants, who fear they will never be human again, since the Beast never told them of his reason why he had to let her go. As he watches her leave, the Beast admits to Cogsworth that he loves Belle. Belle finds her father and takes him home, but Gaston arrives with a mob. Unless she agrees to marry Gaston, the manager of the local madhouse will lock up her father. Eventually, Belle proves Maurice sane by showing them the Beast with the magic mirror, but when she says the Beast is her friend and calls Gaston a "monster", he becomes jealous. Gaston arouses the mob's anger against the Beast, and leads them to the castle to kill him. Gaston locks Belle and Maurice in the basement, though Chip, who had hidden himself in Belle's baggage, is able to chop the basement door apart with Maurice's machine. While the servants and Gaston's men fight in the castle, Gaston finds the Beast and attacks him. The Beast is initially too depressed to fight back, but he regains his will when he sees Belle returning to the castle with Maurice. After winning a heated battle, the Beast spares Gaston's life, demanding that he leave the castle and never return. The Beast then climbs up to a balcony where Belle is waiting. Gaston, refusing to admit defeat, follows the Beast and stabs him from behind, but loses his balance and falls to his death. While the Beast is dying from his injuries, Belle whispers that she loves him, breaking the spell just before the last petal drops from the rose. The Beast comes back to life and he becomes human again. As he and Belle kiss, the castle and its grounds return to their previous beautiful state while the servants become human again. Snow White Happy Queen Bashful Dopey Doc Sleepy Huntsmen Grumpy Prince Sneezy Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Plot Through a textual prologue told via a stop-motion storybook, the audience is told that Snow White is a princess living with her stepmother, a vain and wicked Queen who is assumed to have taken over the kingdom after the death of Snow White's father. Fearing Snow White's beauty surpassing her own, the Queen forced her to work as a scullery maid and asked her Magic Mirror daily "who is the fairest one of all". For many years the mirror always answered that the Queen was, pleasing her. At the film's opening, the Magic Mirror informs the Queen that Snow White is now the fairest in the land. The jealous Queen orders a reluctant huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. She further demands that the huntsman return with Snow White's heart in a jeweled box as proof of the deed. The huntsman encounters Snow White but decides not to harm her. He tearfully begs for her forgiveness and urges her to flee into the woods and never come back, bringing back a pig's heart instead. Lost and frightened, the princess is befriended by woodland creatures who lead her to a cottage deep in the woods. Finding seven small chairs in the cottage's dining room, Snow White assumes the cottage is the untidy home of seven orphaned children. It soon becomes apparent that the cottage belongs instead to seven adult dwarfs, Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey, who work in a nearby mine. Returning home, they are alarmed to find their cottage clean and surmise that an intruder has invaded their home. The dwarfs find Snow White upstairs, asleep across three of their beds. Snow White awakes to find the Dwarfs at her bedside and introduces herself, and all of the dwarfs eventually welcome her into their home after they learn she can cook and clean beautifully. Snow White begins a new life cooking, cleaning, and keeping house for the dwarfs while they mine for jewels and at night sing, play music and dance. Meanwhile, the Queen discovers that Snow White is still alive when the mirror again answers that Snow White is the fairest in the land. Using magic to disguise herself as an old hag, the Queen concocts a potion named "Sleeping Death" and dips an ordinary apple into the brew. The Evil Queen explains that Snow White would collapse into a magical sleep if she were to take even a single bite of the apple. The sleep can only be cured by the power of "love's first kiss". The Queen reasons that this is no danger to her plans, as the dwarfs would not be able to awaken Snow White, and would think she was dead, thus resulting in Snow White being "buried alive". The Queen goes to the cottage while the dwarfs are away and tricks Snow White into biting into the poisoned apple. As Snow White falls asleep the Queen exclaims "Now I'll be fairest in the land!" The vengeful dwarfs, alerted by the woodland animals who recognize her, chase the Queen up a cliff and trap her. She tries to roll a boulder over them but lightning strikes the cliff she is standing on, causing it to collapse. T he Queen falls to her death, and her body is crushed by the boulder. The dwarfs return to their cottage and find Snow White seemingly dead, being kept in a death-like slumber by the potion. Unwilling to bury her out of sight in the ground, they instead place her in a glass coffin trimmed with gold in a clearing in the forest. Together with the woodland creatures, they keep watch over her in an "eternal vigil". After some time, a Prince, who had previously met and fallen in love with Snow White, learns of her eternal sleep and visits her coffin. Captivated by her beauty, he kisses her, which breaks the spell and awakens her. The dwarfs and animals all rejoice as the prince takes Snow White to his castle, which glows in the presence of Snow White. Source: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 film)”. Cinderella Lady Tremaine ( Cinderella’s stepmother) Drizella & Anastasia Tremaine (Cinderella’s stepsisters) Fairy godmother Prince charming King Gus, Jaq, & Bruno (mice) Cinderella Plot Cinderella is the much-loved only child of a widowed aristocrat. After deciding that his beloved daughter needs a mother's care, Cinderella's father marries a proud and haughty woman named Lady Tremaine. She too has been married before, and has two daughters from her first marriage, Anastasia and Drizella. Plain and socially awkward, these stepsisters are bitterly envious of the beautiful and charming Cinderella. The family lives in happiness for several years, until the death of Cinderella's father. After that, Lady Tremaine's true nature is revealed, and she and her spiteful daughters take over the estate, and begin to abuse and mistreat Cinderella, envious of her beauty. She is forced into becoming a scullery maid and made to wait upon her jealous stepsisters and even their sadistic cat, Lucifer. As Cinderella blossoms into a beautiful young woman who is kind despite her hardships, she befriends the animals living in the barn and many of the mice and birds who live in and around the chateau. At the royal palace, the King is distressed that his son does not intend to marry. The King is determined to see grandchildren, so he and the Duke organize a ball for Prince Charming in an effort to enable his son to fall in love and marry, with every eligible maiden in the kingdom requested to attend. When the invitation to the ball arrives, Cinderella asks her stepmother if she can attend. Her stepmother promises her that she may attend to the ball, as long as she finishes her work and can find a suitable gown in time. To consume her time, her stepmother sets Cinderella with a mountain of chores. Her mouse friends Jaq and Gus use Cinderella's stepsister's discarded sash and beads to fix an old gown that belonged to Cinderella's mother. When Cinderella wears her dress just before departing, Lady Tremaine sarcastically complements Cinderella's gown, subtly pointing out Drizella's beads and Anastasia's sash. The angered stepsisters catch on to their mother's implications and tear the gown to shreds before she stops them, leaving Cinderella to run to the back of the garden in tears while her stepfamily leaves for the royal ball without her. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother appears to her in the garden. She bestows upon Cinderella a beautiful blue dress with glass slippers, and transforms a pumpkin and various animals into a carriage with horses. Cinderella departs for the ball after the godmother warns her that the spell will break at the stroke of midnight, meaning that her dress and everything else will change back to the way they were. At the ball, the Prince rejects every girl, until he sees Cinderella, with whom he is immediately captivated by. The two dance alone throughout the castle grounds until the clock starts to chime midnight. Cinderella flees to her coach and away from the castle, accidentally dropping one of her glass slippers. After the Duke tells the King of the disaster, they plan to find Cinderella with the slipper they recovered during her exit. The next morning, a royal proclamation is issued, stating the Grand Duke will visit every house in the kingdom to find the girl who fits the glass slipper, so that she can be married to the Prince. When this news reaches Cinderella's household, her stepmother and stepsisters begin hurriedly preparing for the Grand Duke's arrival. Cinderella, overhearing, begins dreamily humming the song from the palace ball the previous night. Upon realizing that Cinderella is the girl who danced with the Prince, Lady Tremaine follows Cinderella up to her attic bedroom and locks her inside. When the Grand Duke arrives, the mice steal the key to Cinderella's room from Lady Tremaine's pocket and laboriously drag the key up the stairs to her room. They are ambushed by Lucifer, but are then rescued by Bruno, Cinderella's bloodhound, who scares Lucifer out of the house. As the Duke prepares to leave after the stepsisters unsuccessfully try on the slipper, Cinderella appears and requests to try it on. Knowing that the slipper will fit and that Cinderella will marry the Prince, her stepmother trips the footman over while he is carrying the slipper, causing it to drop and shatter into hundreds of pieces. The Duke laments over the broken slipper, but Cinderella then reveals she has kept the other glass slipper, much to her stepmother's horror. Delighted at this indisputable proof of the maiden's identity, the Duke slides the slipper onto her foot, which fits perfectly. At the wedding, Cinderella and the Prince descend the church's staircase, surrounded by confetti tossed by the King, the Grand Duke and the mice, now in uniform apparently as part of the Royal Guard. The film ends on a scene of the two newlyweds kissing. Source: “Cinderella (1950 film)”. Wikipedia. 20 Sep. 2011. 23 Sep. 2011 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella_%281950_film%29>. Princess Aurora Prince Phillip Maleficent (a witch) Flora, Fauna, & Merryweather (good fairies) King Stefan (Princess Aurora’s father) Hubert Sleeping Beauty Plot After many childless years, King Stefan and his Queen welcome the arrival of their daughter, Aurora. The newborn Princess is named after the Roman Goddess of the dawn because of how she fills the lives of the King and Queen with sunshine. While still an infant, she is betrothed to the also-young Prince Phillip, son of King Hubert, uniting their respective kingdoms. At her christening, three good fairies—Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather—arrive to bless the child with gifts. Flora gives the princess the gift of beauty, while Fauna gives her the gift of song. Before Merryweather is able to give her blessing, a wicked witch named Maleficent appears, expressing disappointment of not being invited to the ceremony. As revenge for the insult she curses the princess: before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, Aurora will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. As Maleficent disappears, the distraught King Stefan requests that Merryweather break the curse. Even though Merryweather is unable to undo Maleficent's curse, she is able to weaken it. If Aurora was to touch a spindle, she wouldn't die, but rather fall into a deep slumber that she could only be awoken from by a true love's kiss. Though King Stefan orders all spinning wheels in the kingdom burned, the three fairies know Maleficent's spell cannot be stopped that easily and devise a plan to protect her. With the King and Queen's consent, they disguise themselves as mortals and sneak Aurora away with them to a woodland cottage. Sixteen years later, Aurora—renamed Briar Rose—has grown into a gorgeous young woman with the blessings that Flora and Fauna bestowed to her. Sweet and gentle, she dreams of falling in love one day. As Rose gathers berries, while singing, she attracts the attention of Prince Phillip as he is out riding his horse Samson in the woods. When they meet, they instantly fall in love; Phillip believing her to be a peasant girl, and she thinking him a woodsman. Realizing that she has to return home, Rose flees from Phillip without ever learning his name. Later that day, the fairies reveal the truth to Rose and despite her heartbreak they take her to her parents. Meanwhile, Phillip tells his father about the "peasant girl" he met, adding that he wishes to marry the her in spite of his betrothal to Princess Aurora. King Hubert tries to convince Phillip to marry the princess, but fails. In the palace, Maleficent uses her magic to lure Aurora to a strange room, where an enchanted spinning wheel awaits her. Spellbound, Aurora touches the spindle, pricking her finger and fulfilling the altered curse. The good fairies place Aurora on a bed and place a powerful charm on all the people in the kingdom, causing them to fall in a deep sleep until the spell is broken. Before falling asleep, King Hubert tells Stefan of his son being in love with a peasant girl, which the fairies overhear and realize that Prince Phillip is the man Aurora has fallen in love with. They set off on a search to find, and convince him to kiss the princess and break the curse. However, the Prince has already been kidnapped by Maleficent and taken to the dungeons on the forbidden mountain, to prevent him from breaking her spell. The fairies discover the Prince's whereabouts, sneak into the forbidden mountain, and free the prince. Armed with a magical Sword and Shield, Phillip and the fairies escape from the forbidden mountain. Maleficent places a massive forest of thorns around the kingdom to keep Phillip out. But as Phillip is undeterred, Maleficent calls on the powers of Hell to transform herself into a Dragon. After a long fight, Phillip defeats the dragon, kisses Aurora and restores the kingdom. Quasimodo (a hunchback) Esmeralda (a gypsy) Claude Frollo, Minister of Justice (Quasimodo’s caretaker) Phoebus (a soldier) Clopin (the puppeteer narrator) Hugo, Victor, & Laverne (gargoyles) Archdeacon of Notre Dame Quasimodo’s mother The Hunchback of Notre Dame Plot One night, four gypsies are smuggled into Paris, just to be ambushed by a group of soldier-like thugs working for Judge Claude Frollo, the Minister of Justice. One gypsy, holding a bundle, resists arrest and is chased all the way to Notre Dame, where Frollo catches and kills her, taking the bundle and seeing a horribly deformed infant. Thinking that it is an unholy demon, Frollo prepares to drown the baby but is immediately stopped by the Archdeacon, who says that the only way to spare his soul from eternal damnation for murdering an innocent woman outside Notre Dame is to take the infant in as his own son, which Frollo reluctantly accepts. Twenty years later, the boy, named Quasimodo, grows into a kind, and gentle young man, living in the bell tower and watched upon by Frollo, who constantly teaches him that he is a monster who would be ridiculed by the outside world. Despite this, Quasimodo secretly rebels against Frollo's strict teachings and decides to attend the next Festival of Fools. At the Festival, Quasimodo and Frollo both cross paths with a young gypsy dancer, Esmeralda, and are taken with her. However, Quasimodo is discovered by the crowd and crowned as the King of Fools, much to Frollo's chagrin, whose thugs start a riot by pelting Quasimodo with fruit, and the crowd immediately follows, with Frollo refusing to call it off. Esmeralda intervenes and openly insults Frollo for his cruelty. Frollo then orders her arrested, but she manages to evade his thugs after a long chase through the festival. Captain Phoebus, Frollo's benevolent Captain of the Guard, follows Esmeralda inside Notre Dame and strikes up a fast friendship with her, even protecting her from Frollo by claiming Sanctuary for her. Frollo and his thugs leave the cathedral, but Frollo threatens to arrest Esmeralda if she ever stepped outside. Esmeralda meets and bonds with Quasimodo. In return for her helping him at the Festival, Quasimodo helps Esmeralda escape without alerting the thugs. Before leaving, Esmeralda leaves Quasimodo a map to the gypsy hideout, the Court of Miracles, if he should ever decide to leave Notre Dame for good. Quasimodo, for his part, begins to fall in love with Esmeralda. Frollo is plagued with nightmares about his own infatuation with Esmeralda, and vows to hunt her down and kill her in order to stop her supposed witchcraft. He starts a manhunt across Paris, burning down houses and killing innocent people in his way. Phoebus finally defies Frollo for the injustice and is ordered killed. He is injured, but rescued by Esmeralda, who takes him to Quasimodo for care. As she treats him, Esmeralda and Phoebus share an intimate moment, but Frollo arrives and Quasimodo has Esmeralda leave whilst he hides Phoebus. Frollo discovers that Quasimodo helped Esmeralda escape, but promises to free Quasimodo from her "evil spell" by attacking the Court of Miracles at dawn. When Frollo is gone, Phoebus implores Quasimodo to help him find the Court of Miracles and alert the gypsies, and Quasimodo reluctantly complies, using the map Esmeralda gave him. Once at the Court, Quasimodo and Phoebus are caught and almost hanged by the gypsies as Frollo's spies, but Esmeralda arrives and clears the misunderstanding up. However, as the gypsies begin packing to leave, Frollo and his army of thugs arrive and arrest them all: he had bluffed, and followed Quasimodo and Phoebus. Frollo orders the gypsies locked up and Quasimodo imprisoned in the bell tower. Frollo prepares to burn Esmeralda at the stake. He offers her a chance to live as his mistress, but she refuses and he lights the fire. This act of injustice and hypocrisy is what finally pushed Quasimodo too far, and he breaks out from the bell tower and rescues Esmeralda, taking her back to the bell tower and claiming sanctuary for her. Frollo orders his thugs to break down the door to the cathedral, but Phoebus frees himself along with everyone else and leads the gypsies and citizenry into battle with Frollo's thugs. Quasimodo pours a cauldron of molten copper onto the streets of Paris to drive the battle away, but Frollo still gets inside. He finds Quasimodo weeping over Esmeralda's supposedly dead figure, and tries to stab Quasimodo from behind, but Quasimodo fights back and throws Frollo to the floor. Esmeralda awakens and Quasimodo rushes her to safety on the balcony as he fights Frollo alone. During the struggle, Frollo admits that he killed Quasimodo's mother himself (he had raised him to think that his mother abandoned him at birth), before the fight sends both Quasimodo and Frollo falling off the balcony, where Frollo falls to his death. Quasimodo also falls, but Phoebus reaches out in time and catches him on a lower floor. Esmeralda reunites with Quasimodo and Phoebus, and Quasimodo blesses Esmeralda's relationship with Phoebus. The next morning, as the citizens celebrate their victory over Frollo's tyranny, Quasimodo finally emerges from the cathedral again, but this time, he is hailed as a hero and accepted into society by the grateful citizenry. Ariel (a mermaid) Flounder Louis King Triton Prince Eric Carlotta Ursula (a sea witch) Seahorse Flotsam & Jetsam Sebastian Scuttle The Little Mermaid Plot Ariel, a sixteen-year-old mermaid princess, is dissatisfied with life under the sea and curious about the human world. With her best fish friend Flounder, Ariel collects human artifacts and goes to the surface of the ocean to visit Scuttle, the seagull, who offers very inaccurate knowledge of human culture. She constantly ignores the warnings of her father, King Triton and adviser, Sebastian, that contact between merpeople and humans is forbidden, longing to join the human world and become a human herself. One night, Ariel, Flounder and an unwilling Sebastian travel to the ocean surface to watch a celebration for the birthday of Prince Eric on a ship, with whom Ariel falls in love. In an ensuing storm the ship is destroyed and Ariel saves the unconscious Eric from drowning. Ariel sings to him, but quickly leaves as soon as he regains consciousness to avoid being discovered. Fascinated by the memory of her voice, Eric vows to find who saved and sung to him and Ariel vows to find a way to join him and his world. Noticing a change in Ariel's behavior, Triton questions Sebastian about her behavior and learns of her love for Eric. Triton furiously confronts Ariel in her grotto, where she and Flounder store human artifacts, and destroys the objects with his trident. After Triton leaves, a pair of eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, convince Ariel to visit Ursula, the sea witch, in order to be with Eric. Ursula makes a deal with Ariel to transform her into a human for three days in exchange for Ariel's voice, which Ursula puts in a nautilus shell. Within these three days, Ariel must receive the “kiss of true love” from Eric; otherwise, she will transform back into a mermaid and belong to Ursula. Ariel is then given human legs and taken to the surface by Flounder and Sebastian. Eric finds Ariel on the beach and takes her to his castle, unaware that she is the one who had saved him earlier. Ariel spends time with Eric, and at the end of the second day, they almost kiss but are thwarted by Flotsam and Jetsam. Angered at their narrow escape, Ursula takes the disguise of a beautiful young woman named "Vanessa" and appears onshore singing with Ariel's voice. Eric recognizes the song and, in her disguise, Ursula casts a hypnotic enchantment on Eric to make him forget about Ariel. The next day, Ariel finds out that Eric will be married to the disguised Ursula. Scuttle discovers that Vanessa is Ursula in disguise, and informs Ariel who immediately goes after the wedding barge. Sebastian informs Triton, and Scuttle disrupts the wedding with the help of various animals. In the chaos, the nautilus shell around Ursula's neck is broken, restoring Ariel's voice and breaking Ursula's enchantment over Eric. Realizing that Ariel was the girl who saved his life, Eric rushes to kiss her, but the sun sets and Ariel transforms back into a mermaid. Ursula reverts to her true form and kidnaps Ariel. Triton confronts Ursula and demands Ariel's release, but the deal is inviolable. At Ursula's urging, he agrees to take Ariel's place as Ursula's prisoner. Ariel is released as Triton transforms into a polyp and loses his authority over Atlantica. Ursula declares herself the new ruler and quickly grows to monstrous proportions. Ariel and Eric reconcile on the surface just before Ursula grows past and towers over the two. She then gains full control of the entire ocean, creating a storm with a whirlpool and shipwrecks, one of which Eric commandeers. As Ursula attempts to destroy a trapped Ariel in the whirlpool, Eric turns the wheel hard to port and runs Ursula through the abdomen with the ship's splintered bowsprit, mortally wounding her. After her death, Ursula's power breaks, causing Triton and all the other polyps in Ursula's garden to revert back into their original forms. Later, after seeing that Ariel truly loves Eric, Triton willingly changes her from a mermaid into a human. An unspecified amount of time later, Ariel and Eric have their wedding on a ship and depart. They are protecting their clutch of eggs that are due to hatch in a few days. Marlin then sees Coral looking worriedly at a barracuda a short distance away. Marlin tells Coral to get back into the anemone, but she tries to protect their eggs. The barracuda then attacks them and Marlin attempts to save his wife but the barracuda knocks him out. When he regains consciousness, the barracuda has eaten Coral and all but one of their eggs. He names the last remaining egg Nemo, a name that Coral liked. The film then moves on to Nemo's first day of school. Nemo has an abnormally small right fin (due to a minor injury to his egg from the barracuda attack) which causes Marlin to not only worry over his swimming ability but also doubt his son’s general capabilities. Once at school, Nemo disobeys his father and sneaks away from the reef towards a boat, resulting in him being captured by a scuba diver. In search of help, Marlin bumps into Dory, a naïve but good-hearted and optimistic regal tang with short-term memory loss. While meeting would-be vegetarian sharks Bruce, Anchor and Chum, Marlin discovers a diver's mask that was dropped from the boat, and notices an address written on it. Before he has the chance to read it, however, a chaotic struggle against Bruce's organic appetite occurs and shortly after his restoration, the mask is dropped into a trench in the deep sea. During a hazardous struggle with an anglerfish in the trench, Dory realizes she is able to read the address written on the mask, which leads to Sydney, and manages to remember it despite her short-term memory loss. After receiving directions from a large school of moonfish, Marlin and Dory set out to find Sydney. After a struggle with hypnotic jellyfish that nearly sting them to death, they are recovered by a surf-cultured sea turtle named Crush who takes them on the East Australian Current. In the current, Marlin reluctantly shares the details of his journey with a group of young sea turtles, and his story spreads rapidly across the ocean through word of mouth and eventually reaches Sydney. Meanwhile, Nemo's captor, a dentist, drops him into a fish tank in his office on Sydney Harbor. There, Nemo meets a group of aquarium fish called the "Tank Gang", led by a crafty and ambitious Moorish idol named Gill. The "Tank Gang" includes the fishes; Bloat, a porcupinefine, Bubbles, a Yellow Tang, Peach, a Ochre Sea Star, Gurgle, a Royal gramma, Jacques, a Pacific Cleaner Shrimp and Deb a Blacktail Humbug. The fish are frightened to learn that the dentist plans to give Nemo to his niece, Darla, who is overly-enthusiastic and infamous for killing a goldfish, called Gibbles, who was given to her previously by constantly shaking its bag. In order to avoid the situation, Gill gives Nemo a role in an escape plan, which involves jamming the tank's filter and forcing the dentist to remove the fish from the tank to clean it manually. After a friendly pelican named Nigel visits with news of Marlin's adventure, Nemo succeeds in jamming the filter, but the plan backfires when the dentist installs a new high-tech filter. Upon leaving the East Australian Current, Marlin and Dory become lost in a huge bloom of plankton, and are engulfed by the mouth of a blue whale after swimming in its path. Inside the whale's immense mouth, Dory calmly tries to communicate with the whale. In response, the whale carries them to Sydney Harbour and expels them through its blowhole. They are then met by Nigel, who recognizes Marlin from the stories he has heard and rescues him and Dory from a flock of hungry seagulls by scooping them into his beak and taking them to the dentist's office. By this time, Darla has arrived and the dentist is prepared to give Nemo to her. Nemo tries to play dead in hopes of saving himself, and, at the same time, Nigel arrives. Marlin sees Nemo and mistakes this act for the actual death of his son. After the dentist throws Nigel out, Gill helps Nemo escape into a drain through a sink plug-hole after a chaotic struggle. Overcome with despair, Marlin leaves Dory and swims back towards his home. Dory then loses her memory and becomes confused, but meets Nemo, who has escaped into the ocean through an underwater drain pipe. Dory's memory is suddenly restored after she reads the word "Sydney", and she guides Nemo to Marlin. After the two joyfully reunite, Dory is caught in a fishing net among a school of grouper. Nemo enters the net with bravery and directs the group to swim downward to break the net, reminiscent of a similar scenario that occurred in the fish tank earlier in the film. The fish, including Dory, succeed and escape. At this point, Marlin is no longer overprotective or doubtful of his son's safety. Back at the dentist's office, the high-tech filter breaks down and The Tank Gang have escaped into the harbor, but realize they are confined to the bags of water that the dentist put them into when cleaning the tank. Woody Little Bo Peep Buzz Lightyear Andy Davis Mr. Potato Head Sid Phillips Mrs. Potato Head Hanna Phillips Slinky Dog Mom Rex, the T-rex Sarge Hamm, the piggy bank Toy Story Plot Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll, is the leader of a group of toys that belong to a boy named Andy Davis, and come to life when humans are not around. With his family moving to a new home and having a party, both one week before his birthday, the toys stage a reconnaissance mission to discover Andy's new presents. Andy receives a space ranger Buzz Lightyear action figure, whose impressive features soon see him replacing Woody as Andy's favorite toy. Woody is disappointed and resentful at his replacement, while Buzz does not understand that he is a toy, believing himself to be a real space ranger. As Andy prepares to go to a family outing at the space themed Pizza Planet restaurant with Buzz, Woody attempts to have Buzz misplaced but ends up knocking him out a window instead. With Buzz missing, Andy takes Woody with him to Pizza Planet instead. Buzz, however, climbs aboard the car and confronts Woody as they stop at a gas station. The two toys fight and accidentally land outside the car, which drives off and leaves them stranded. Woody spots a truck bound for Pizza Planet and plans to rendezvous with Andy there, convincing Buzz to come with him by telling him it will take him to his home planet. Once at Pizza Planet, Buzz makes his way into a claw game machine shaped like a spaceship, thinking that it is the ship Woody promised him. While Woody clambers in to try and rescue him, they get captured by Andy's next door neighbor, Sid Phillips, who tortures and destroys toys for fun. At Sid's house, the two desperately stage numerous attempts to escape before Andy's family's moving day, encountering nightmarish hodge-podge toys of Sid's creation as well as Sid's vicious dog, Scud. When Buzz sees a commercial for Buzz Lightyear action figures just like himself and realizes that he is a toy, he becomes too depressed to participate in Woody's escape plan. Sid prepares to destroy Buzz by strapping him to a rocket, but is delayed by a thunderstorm and sleeps for the night. Woody convinces Buzz that life is worth living even if he is not a space ranger because of the joy he can bring to children, and helps Buzz regain his spirit. Cooperating with Sid's mutant toys, Woody stages a rescue for Buzz and scares Sid away by coming to life in front of him. However, the two miss Andy's car as it drives away to his new house. Running out on the road, they manage to climb onto the moving truck but Scud chases them and Buzz tackles the dog to save Woody. Woody attempts to rescue Buzz with Andy's RC but the other toys, who still distrust him, toss him off onto the road. Spotting Woody driving RC back with Buzz alive, the other toys realize their mistake and try to help them into the truck. When RC's batteries become depleted, Woody ignites the rocket on Buzz's back and manages to throw RC into the moving truck just as the duo go soaring into the air. Buzz then opens his wings to cut himself free before he and Woody glide safely into the car. Andy looks in the box and is elated to find Buzz and Woody. On Christmas Eve at their new house, Buzz and Woody stage another reconnaissance mission to prepare for the new toy arrivals, one of which is a Mrs. Potato Head, much to the delight of Mr. Potato Head. Woody jokingly asks Buzz "What could Andy possibly get... that is worse than you?", a question which is immediately answered: Andy's new gift, it turns out, is a puppy, and the two share a worried smile.
