Senior Center Newsletter Enjoy friends and fun at the JFCS Senior Center • January 2015 News at the Senior Center December was an exciting and engaging month for members at the Senior Center. Lunch and More featured “Trio from East Naples Community Band, City of Naples Mayor Sorey, JFCS Trivia Teams, sing-a-longs with Dottie, and our New Year’s Eve Fashion & Talent Show. We had great discussion groups with the Center for Critical Thinking, and the showing of Emmy Winning Documentary: Lincoln at Gettysburg. The cost for membership will remain at $15 for the year BRAND NEW THIS MONTH WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY…Come dance and celebrate on Wednesday, January 21st with Twice as Nice + One. The engaging band will play from 12:30-1:15, so bring your dancing shoes!! Tai Chi Schedule Change For 2015 – Classes will be on Tuesday(s) from 1–2pm and Friday(s) 9:3010:30am. Classes will be limited to 20 participants. We encourage NEW participants to start from week one (either Tuesday OR Friday) as the classes are progressive in techniques. Beginners’ Spanish classes are back! We’ll look forward to seeing you on Tuesday mornings from 10:00-11:00am. SHINE (Medicare) has new hours – 9:30 – 11:30am on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday. Located on the 2nd Floor. Seniors vs Crime, a Special Project of the Florida Attorney General, will be on hand the 4th Thursday of the month (Jan. 22nd, Feb 26th, Mar 26th, Apr 23rd). If you have been taken advantage of by a home service company, car repair, or if you have been scammed or defrauded, bring your documents, receipts, and contracts to the JFCS Senior Center between the hours of 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm. Staff will be present to assist you and will work to mediate the problem to your satisfaction. You may call ahead to arrange your appointment during those hours by contacting Seniors vs. Crime at 239-574-0643. ELECTRONICS HOTLINE. Ever been frustrated using the computer or your smart phone and wished you could call someone to ask a question. If you call our ELECTRONICS HOTLINE 239-325-4444 one of our tech savvy volunteers will call you back. If you’re lucky, it’s a quick fix that they can answer a question over the phone or they will make an appointment to meet you at the Senior Center for private tutoring. You can’t ask for better service. No Need to Pack Your Bags - We’re bringing the world to you through Travelogue with Jim Sernovitz. The New England Coast – Cradle of Our Nation on Wednesday, January 7th from 1:15-2:15pm and Wonderful Italy on Wednesday, February 4th from 1:152:15pm.
