Chinese Language and Culture Corner

Tai Chi Chuan Class and Beginner Spoken Chinese Class

To promote multicultural exchange and friendship within the community, provide more learning opportunities for Chinese culture and language fans, the Confucius Institute at SF State is going to open a Tai Chi Chuan Class and a Beginner Spoken Chinese Class this summer. All college students and working professionals in San Francisco Bay Area are warmly welcome to register for these two fantastic classes, and increase your understanding about Chinese language and culture.

Tai Chi Chuan Class

Class Description: This class provides training in the 17-Postures set of Tai Chi Chuan, a condensed yet complete set of Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, where philosophy and theory is practiced as well as the physical movements. The students will benefit from practicing Tai Chi

Chuan with self-cultivation, physical fitness, self-defense skills, character building and entertainment.

Instructor: Qiang Zhang

Mr. Zhang is a student of Tai Chi Chuan Grand Master Junsheng Hong. He has a deep understanding of Tai Chi philosophy and mastered Tai Chi Kung Fu after more than ten years of learning and practicing. He was ranked as one of the top 25 practitioners of Chen style Tai Chi

Chuan under Master Junsheng Hong's supervision.

Beginner Spoken Chinese Class

Class Description: This class provides instructions of the most basic and widely used communicative spoken Chinese for learners with no previous Chinese learning background or

very limited Chinese experience. It can help learners quickly master the daily life Chinese conversation patterns and skills, and help them communicative with native Chinese speakers with easy terms.

Schedule: May 29, 2009~July 20, 2009, Monday & Friday 6:30pm~8:30pm
