1 He died on 29 Jul 1833 at the age of 73.
He was buried in
Westminster Abbey. William Wilberforce, of Kingston-upon-Hull, the great philanthropist; M.P. for
Hull 1780, for Yorkshire 1784, 1790, 1793, 1802, 1806 and 1807-12, and for Bramber, 1812-25. He became the parliamentary leader of the cause of abolition of slavery 1787. He introduced a resolution condemning slave-trade 1789, and had a motion for its gradual abolition carried by the House of
Commons 1791. The bill for total abolition of the slave trade defeated several times but passed by the
Commons 1804, then twice rejected by House of Lords It finally became law on 25 March1807.
He was a prominent member of the Clapham 'saints', centred around the evangelical church of the Holy
Trinity, and set himself the aim for the 'Reform of Manners' - the development of a more moral society.
He took part in founding Church Missionary Society, 1798, and Bible Society, 1803,the RSPCA and many other causes, to which he gave most of his fortune. He was the friend of Pitt, Raffles, Fox, Sheridan, and many more of the eminent men of his time, and author of many religious and philanthropic works including "Christianity, a Practical View"

During 1942 she mastered the whole gamut of twin engined medium bombers including the Wellington and Mosquito. Two years later she became one of only eleven women pilots trained to fly four engined bombers such as the Lancaster...
...When she was eighty she decided that the time had come to give up flying...In peace time she was best known in aviation as someone who did was she was not meant to do, whether it was skirting the ground at two hundred feet to avoid radar when on a route she shouldn't have been on, or disrupting a
NATO exercise.
Hunting: She took to the field in about 1933. From 1968 to 1982 she was on the committee of the
Essex Union Hunt, becoming the only female Master of the Fox Hounds (between 1968 and 1970) in the hunt's entire two hundred and thirty six year history before its amalgamation with the Farmers in
1988. She had been a fearless rider, and tough. In her seventies she fell into a ditch breaking her collar bone. She re-mounted and completed the hunt before taking herself to hospital.She only stopped hunting in her early eighties having taken yet another fall and broken more bones.

In addition to a wide knowledge of walks and climbs in the Lake District, Wilberforce was an expert with the diabolo. This Victorian toy, which comprises two cones joined at the tips, can be spun, tossed and caught on a string attached to two sticks, one in each hand. An eyewitness once reported him standing on the lecture bench, using his diabolo to demonstrate principles of dynamics, much as Professor Taylor-Jones used to do at Glasgow University, seated on a rotating stool! - Dr Harry

Telegraph published the following obituary: 'Frances Murphy, the arachnologist who has died aged 69, was -with her pet tarantula, Patricia- a frequent guest on television and radio programmes. A specialist in spider-rearing, in 1980 Murphy produced the useful guide Keeping
Spiders, Insects and Other Land Invertebrates in Captivity, which gave advice to those wishing to keep such creatures in the home rather than the laboratory. She was also an adept photographer, and many of her spider photographs have appeared in natural history journals. She was educated at
St James's, West Malvern, and Bedford College, London University, where she read mathematics.
She then took a job as a systems analyst, working on wire-guided missiles. But she was more passionate about her spare time activities, and in the early 1960s her interest in bird life shifted to spiders and other arachnids. In her efforts to encourage others to take an interest in spiders, she conducted many weekend spider courses in the Field Studies Council's centres. She held the distinction of being the first woman president of the British Entomological and Natural History
Society, despite the fact that she was not an entomologist. The Joint Committee for the
Conservation of British Invertebrates also benefited from her intelligence and humour. She was a founder member of both the British and the American Arachnological Societies, as well as of the
Friends of the Natural History Museum. She was especially concerned that the museum should maintain its collections and remain a leading scientific institution. At the time of her death she was preparing a book on the spiders of Malaysia.'

Telegraph published the following obituary: 'Frances Murphy, the arachnologist who has died aged 69, was -with her pet tarantula, Patricia- a frequent guest on television and radio programmes. A specialist in spider-rearing, in 1980 Murphy produced the useful guide Keeping
Spiders, Insects and Other Land Invertebrates in Captivity, which gave advice to those wishing to keep such creatures in the home rather than the laboratory. She was also an adept photographer, and many of her spider photographs have appeared in natural history journals. She was educated at
St James's, West Malvern, and Bedford College, London University, where she read mathematics.
She then took a job as a systems analyst, working on wire-guided missiles. But she was more passionate about her spare time activities, and in the early 1960s her interest in bird life shifted to spiders and other arachnids. In her efforts to encourage others to take an interest in spiders, she conducted many weekend spider courses in the Field Studies Council's centres. She held the distinction of being the first woman president of the British Entomological and Natural History
Society, despite the fact that she was not an entomologist. The Joint Committee for the
Conservation of British Invertebrates also benefited from her intelligence and humour. She was a founder member of both the British and the American Arachnological Societies, as well as of the
Friends of the Natural History Museum. She was especially concerned that the museum should maintain its collections and remain a leading scientific institution. At the time of her death she was preparing a book on the spiders of Malaysia.'

Buried in the graveyard of Woodchester Priory - Fr Gerard Wilberforce the youngest son of William Wilberforce , was an English Catholic journalist and author. He studied law at Oxford and was a pupil of John Henry Newman , through whose influence he later took orders as an Anglican priest. He served the Anglican church from 1834 to 1850, when he and his wife were received into the Catholic
Church. After his conversion, he became proprietor and editor of the Catholic Standard , and wrote several books. -
