Twice a year over 60 teenagers and adults of the Antioch Team prepare for this amazing experience we call Antioch. We dedicate the weekend to the Mother Mary and seek to find a sense of belonging. The Team struggles to come up with a theme and personal reflections to share. Through this sharing they find the love of God, love for themselves and love for others. We teach tolerance and acceptance of others and learn to appreciate and embrace our differences. Through the years we have referred to the poem Footprints in the Sand ~ “the times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you”, to help demonstrate God’s love for us. Recently another theme has started to emerge about “living the fourth”. This is when we share God’s love and carry it with us in our daily lives. The words spoken by Mother Teresa in The Final Analysis so beautifully describe this: People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self -centered ...Forgive them anyway! If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives ...Be kind anyway! If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies ...Succeed anyway! If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you ...Be honest and frank anyway! What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnigh t ...Build anyway! If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous ...Be happy anyway! The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow ...Do good anyway! Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough ...Give the world the best you've got anyway! You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God ; It was never between you and them anyway. This theme was once again displayed after the weekend when the teens were bombarding the social networking sites by texting one another, posting on Facebook and Instagram, Tweeting and Snapchatting. Below are just a few of the inspirational messages sent out: “Thank you so much for making my first Antioch such an incredible experience” “…this was my first Antioch and it was amazing! Thank you to all of you for making this weekend so memorable.” “I want to thank every single one of you and tell you all that I love you,…” “I am so thankful for all of you who inspired me this weekend.” “I doubted, I cried, I loved but most importantly I lived the fourth.” These words come from the heart of our incredible young people! This is truly astonishing. So I thank everyone who helped in any way that they could. It is our wonderful community that made this possible. THANK YOU!
