FIVE, TWO, ONE TALENTS

To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability.

The real tragedy of life is not being limited to one talent, but in the failure to use the one talent.

What you are is God’s gift to you – what you become is your gift to God.

“If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem wonderful at all” (Michelangelo)

GENIUS is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration (Fr. John)

A man who works with his hands is a labourer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; a man who works with his hands, his brain and his heart is an artist.

“We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing; others judge us by what we have done”

“Talent is God-given; be thankful. Conceit is self-given; be careful”

Doing easily what others find difficult is talent; doing what is impossible (like running a parish) is genius!!!!!

And a poem hung on the wall of an orphanage founded by MOTHER TERESA sums it up beautifully.

People are often unreasonable,

illogical and self-centered;

Forgive them anyway

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

Build anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse

you of selfish, ulterior motives;

Be kind anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;

Be happy anyway.

If you are successful, The good you do today,

you will win some false friends

and some true enemies;

Succeed anyway. people will often forget tomorrow;

Do good anyway.

If you are honest and frank

people may cheat you;

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;

Give the world the best you’ve got

Be honest and frank anyway. anyway.

You see, in the final analysis

it is between you and God;

It is never between you and them

anyway.

And it was St. Teresa who told us that holiness was simply doing ordinary things extraordinary well. It is not a question of doing big things but a question of giving of oneself, one’s energy, one’s time and one’s love.

“GO AND PREACH about Jesus. USE WORDS if you have to” (St. Francis)

Finally a correction from last week! On a church notice board “Come & talk to the listening GOD – you can BANK on HIM”
