Please follow all directions carefully. No credit will be given for any assignment that does not follow all
specifications. Write the number of the Fun-list item at the top of your paper.
Choose any of the following assignments as your homework or for extra credit. You may not do an assignment
more than once unless specified. Any writing assignments should demonstrate your knowledge of vocabulary
learned in this class and should not involve the use of a dictionary, translator or any unknown vocabulary.
1. Using your current vocabulary list, make up a crossword puzzle using at least 10 vocabulary words.
Your clues should be written in Spanish or they may be picture clues. Include an answer key.
2.
Using your current vocabulary list, make a set of attractive flashcards. You should make flashcards
for at least 10 of the vocabulary words, with the Spanish word neatly written on one side and an attractive,
colored picture on the other side. Put them in a plastic bag with your name on the back of each card.
3. Make a list of 10 sentences from the current vocabulary list. Draw a simple illustration next to each sentence.
4. Make an “opposites poster.” Using a sheet of white computer paper, construction paper, or poster board,
draw at least 5 pairs of vocabulary words which are opposites. Illustrate the poster. (For example:
hello-goodbye, night-morning, black-white, etc.)
5. Pretend you are on vacation in a Spanish-speaking country. You choose the location. Go to:
http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/places/find/. Write ten bi-lingual facts about the country. Include a
map of your country and pictures of the culture. Your paragraph should have a minimum of 50 words and ten
of them should be in Spanish.
6. Draw a picture which you could describe using vocabulary you know in Spanish. (Tip: if you don’t know
how to say fire truck, so don’t put a fire truck in the picture.) Then, using the question words poster for help,
write 7 questions about the picture (one question for each question word). Make sure to include the answers
to each question on a separate sheet of paper!
7. Draw 5 colorful pictures in a story format and under each picture write at least 1 Spanish sentence.
8. Draw an original comic strip (at least 4 boxes) and write the script for it in Spanish. It should be clever and
amusing just like the Sunday comics!
9.
If you are musical, write and sing a song in Spanish. Tape it onto cassette or burn it to a CD. It should be at
least one minute long, include written lyrics, and be an original song. Use vocabulary you already know!
10. Teach a family member (must be a family member who is older than you) 10 Spanish words, then make up a
written vocabulary quiz and have them take it. The quiz must be typed and should be in a format such as t/f,
multiple choice, fill in the blank, matching, etc. It should not simply be a list of words that they write down
as you say them. To receive credit your family member must sign his/her name, write down his/her phone
number as well as write me a short note telling me what they think of your teaching style. (No credit will be
given without signature, note and a phone number.)
11. Make a video to illustrate your vocabulary words.
12. If
you have a Spanish-language channel on your cable or satellite, watch a Spanish-speaking TV show or
movie. Write a one-page description of what you saw and your opinion of it. (In English)
13. Cut
pictures out of magazines; glue them to an 8x10 sheet of construction paper. Make a silly collage.
Then write a bi-lingual (in Spanish and English, or Spanish and native tongue) story about your collage.
14. Cut out a comic strip (you may do more than one to get up to 50 words) from the newspaper. White-out,
or cut out the English and make your own Spanish comic.
15. Make up a bi-lingual children’s storybook. Use recent vocabulary to write in Spanish and English. Your
story should be at least 40 words long, and should contain 4 illustrated pages.
16. Create a comic strip digitally. Go to: Stripgenerator.com, or http://www.makebeliefscomix.com/, to create
your own Spanish Comics. Use at least 10 of your unit vocabulary words.
17. Rainbow words. Create a color code for the letters of the alphabet (For example: a=yellow, b=red). Then
handwrite each vocabulary word using the code you created. You can use the same color several letters. It’s
your code, you make the rules, but you must include your code sheet with your words and use at least 8
colors. It should be a very colorful wordlist.
18. Create a speaking Avatar (Voki) to teach your friends our vocabulary. Pick 5 words from your vocabulary
list. Go to http://www.voki.com/learn.php. Click create and then record a message that teaches others the
vocabulary you picked.
