NAME:
Purpose:
To observe the similarities and differences between cow eyes and human eyes
Materials:
Refer to page 212 in BC Science 8
Procedure:
Refer to pages 212 – 213 BC Science 8
Observations:
Make a labelled diagram of a cross section of the sheep eye that includes as many of the following
structures that you can locate:
Sclera
Cornea
Aqueous humour
Pupil
Lens
Iris
Ciliary muscle
Retina
Choroid Coat
Vitreous Humour
Blind Spot
Optic Nerve
Questions:
1) List four differences between the anatomy of a cow eye and a human eye.
2) What is a possible use for the fat surrounding the eyeball?
3) Describe the appearance, colour, shape and feel of the lens from the cow eye.
4) Was the image that was observed in procedure step #6 upright or upside down?
5) How is the aqueous humour different from the vitreous humour?
Conclusion: (name the parts of the eye, in order, that light passes through to enable us to see)
