JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Attendant Union: Unite Here Local 40 Department: Housekeeping Direct Report: Supervisor Housekeeping Effective Date: Immediately Submission Deadline: March 11, 2016 Scope: Housekeeping Attendants perform a variety of duties with the goal of provided in clean, comfortable and pleasant environment for the facility’s guests and visitors. Housekeeping attendants should be able to handle a large workload in an efficient and fast-paced manner. They must possess physical stamina and be able to manage time well. Housekeeping attendants work throughout the hospitality industry in hotels, lodges and resorts. Attendants must maintain a positive and friendly attitude. Rooms may need cleaning while a guest is still visiting, and housekeeping attendants must be professional, efficient and knowledgeable of the hotel and area in such instances. Responsibilities: Proper dress code is required when on shift. A uniform and name tag will be provided. Well groomed at all times; have a good attendance record and be punctual for scheduled shifts. Follow established Company Policies and Procedures and have full knowledge of Fire procedures. Maintains company standards at all times Reports any deficiencies to Housekeeping Manager or Assistant. Maintains good positive working attitude when performing duties Attend all staff meetings Always conscientious of Health and Safety when performing duties Displays teamwork by helping co-workers when need arises. Maintains professional attitude when in public areas Room attendants clean and prepare rooms as guests leave and new guests arrive. Daily duties include vacuuming carpet and upholstery, changing sheets and linens, replenishing towels, sweeping, dusting, polishing and disinfecting bathroom floors, walls, tubs and sinks. Room attendants also conduct such occasional duties as carpet steam cleaning, wall washing and general seasonal cleaning. Room attendants are responsible for managing and properly disposing of garbage from waste cans in guest rooms. They must be emptied daily. Because hazardous materials may be present, proper safety procedures, such as wearing gloves, must be followed. They are also responsible for disposing of any garbage on their carts at the end of the day in the proper disposal bin and recycling pop bottles and liquor bottles to the proper area. Room attendants take inventory of each guest room and replenish such supplies as towels, facial tissue, hair products, hand soap, coffee and any other complimentary items. They also take inventory of the non complimentary items, such as bottled water or minibar contents, and restock anything that was used. A Room attendant inspects the guest room for any repairs that are needed and reports the information to their supervisor. Housekeeping room attendants address the specific needs of guests. This includes delivering additional supplies such as towels and toiletries to the room, and spot cleaning after incidents that may occur while the guest is occupying the room. Because room attendants constantly interact with guests, these workers play an important role in providing a hospitable environment. Housekeeping room attendants are also assigned to maintain clean and orderly public spaces within the facility. Attendants vacuum, sweep and dust such areas as lobbies swimming pool areas, gyms and hallways. This is important, as guests and visitors spend a lot of time in these areas. As a result, these areas become dirty quite quickly. Housekeeping room attendants are responsible for managing and properly disposing of garbage from waste cans throughout the facility. Because hazardous materials may be present, proper safety procedures, such as wearing gloves and/or masks, must be followed. Waste containers must be emptied daily from public areas and between each guest room visit. Waste must be disposed of in the proper area. Housekeeping room attendants wash, dry and fold a large volume of laundry including sheets, bath towels, robes, comforters and other linens. Laundry must be thoroughly cleaned, bleached (if necessary) and folded to present a clean and comfortable experience for guests. Room attendant are responsible for sorting all laundry and placing it in the proper place in the laundry room or on leaning carts. Certification and/or License Requirement: None. Will be required to work in fast paced, stressful environment. May be asked to work overtime.
