Job Summary
To manage the cleanliness and the appearance of guest accommodations and public space and see that all
personnel performing housekeeping operations carry out their assignments in accordance with established
standards. Responsible for all housekeeping problems, supplies, linen, equipment, work orders to
Maintenance Staff and any other duties as assigned or required. Also, efficiently manage the laundry
operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Makes up morning work assignments to ensure all areas of building are properly maintained in
accordance with cleanliness standards.
2. Supervises the activities of Room Attendants, Laundry, and Porters engaged in all types of the hotel
cleaning operation. Maintains company productivity standards.
3. Inspect grooming and attire of staff, and rectify any deficiencies.
4. Interviews, hires, trains, assigns, and schedules Room Attendants, Laundry and Porters. Checks quality
of work performed and makes appropriate corrections and changes as necessary.
5. Handles guest complaints concerning housekeeping service or refers problem to management for
adjustment.
6. Supervises the testing of new products for the housekeeping department.
7. Notifies and coordinates with Maintenance any needed repairs.
8. Inspects rooms for needed repairs, such as, wallpaper and painting needs, etc.
9. Helps guest and associates in every way possible when called upon and does it willingly and pleasantly.
10. Ensure proper operation of lost and found.
11. Supervises the keeping of all storage areas and linen rooms in a clean and satisfactory condition, as well
as, stocked with needed items.
12. Reports and delivers valuable items to the Manager’s Office as early as possible after a guest has
checked out.
13. Schedule and maintain a successful general clean program.
14. Conducts monthly or quarterly inventories for linen.
15. Ensures proper levels of guest supplies and paper goods.
16. Wear the appropriate uniform and nametag at all times on property.
Responsible for
All linens, blankets, and room supplies; equipment, vacuums, washing machines, dryers, etc.
Education
Four-year degree preferred.
Experience
Five to ten years prior hotel experience in management preferred.
Requirements
Must have extensive knowledge of hotel housekeeping and cleaning techniques.
Physical:




Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Must be capable of constant walking, lifting, bending, pushing and walking up and down stairs.
Be able to use cleaning solvents and detergents on a daily basis.
Be able to immerse in hands in water and work in a hot and damp environment.
