Internal rules in the Dept. of Microbiology for medicine students of English Division 1. Presence on classes – permitted number of justified (sick note) absences cannot exceed 10% a) unjustified absence on class test is equivalent to insufficient grade b) an original sick note should be shown to teacher during the class just after absence and sick note copy should be delivered to the secretary of the Dept. Of Microbiology - medical certificate must be provided by the student personally. Copies of sick notes sent to teacher by email or cell phones will not be considered. 2. Passing all class tests: a) in case of failing the test or in case of justified absence on class test student must pass the test in the term designated within the schedule of lectures. b) problematic cases: Winter semester: IF 1st term class test – failed retake class test – failed THEN commission test at the end of winter semester of the whole material – that will be the only chance to get a credit for the winter semester – if failed, student will have to repeat the 2nd year. Summer semester: IF 1st term class test – failed retake class test – failed THEN commission test at the end of summer semester of the whole material – if failed: conditional credit of the summer semester in September with loss the right to attend practical and final exams in the 1st term. Student must pass the whole material of microbiology at September 2015 and then after passing the material will have right to attend practical and final exams. 3. Practical exam: Attention! the condition to participate in a practical exam is passing all class tests. There will be two terms of practical exam – first at the end of summer semester for all students who get a credit of microbiology, second in September. Students who fail 2nd term of practical exam will have no possibility to pass the 2nd year. 4. The final note/grade of microbiology classes include: all notes from class tests and the note from practical exam. The average of all grades will be counted as weighted average (grade x 5 for class tests grades, note from practical exam is multiplied by 6). Student who will earn the weighted average ≥4.8 from class tests and will get 5.0 from practical exam will be released from 20 of questions during the final exam. 5. Final exam of microbiology: students who will fail the 1st term of exam will have opportunity to repeat the exam in September; if student will fail the 2nd term will have a commission final exam in September. 6. Criteria for passing the class tests and final exam: 60-67% positive answers – satisfactory 68-75% positive answers – above satisfactory 76-83% positive answers – good 84-91% positive answers – above good 92-100% positive answers – very good.
