Week 1
Use the resource attached to sketch and label the key symptoms of the Black Death,
using the information sheet attached.

 Label the symptoms of the Black Death on the body (Week 1)
 Research what Medieval people in Britain believed caused the Black Death,
and what they did to stop themselves getting it (Week 2)
 Plan your story (Week 3)
 Design a front cover for your story (Week 4)
Outstanding home learning may include (Additional extension tasks):
 Research extra information about the Black Death, which will engage the
reader. Can you find some interesting stories that no one else has? Use
books from the library, and useful websites.
Week 2
Gather your research of what Medieval people believed caused the Black Death, and
what they did to stop themselves getting it. Use the research sheet attached to help
you.
To extend your learning, use the ‘8 extra facts’ attached, the additional websites,
and list of books available from the school library provided to strengthen your
research.
Now plan your story, using the planning sheet attached to help structure your story.
Week 3
Write your story, using your completed planning sheet to guide you. Remember to
set the scene first, and using many adjectives (describing words), and different
lengths of sentences to make your story interesting.
To extend your learning, research the results on the Black Death on Britain. For
example, how did it change England afterwards? Who’s lives improved or got worse,
and why?

Design your front cover for your story. Use colour and make sure it reflects your
story.
