This period of time is very interesting yet hard to understand which is why some people call it the “Dark Age”. Even though it has been called the “Dark Age”, England immerged in that period of time and gave itself a new identity and language. Records and evidence were hard to study or interpret which is why there are still some misunderstood and unknown things, but one thing for sure is that Romans didn’t leave Britain immediately, some of them even became locals (Britons). At that time, the main enemies of Britain were the Irish raiders coming from the west and north. Some evidence showed that they settled down in Britain as well, however it could be wrong since the evidence wasn’t sufficient enough. Religion played a huge role in that period of time, within a century Irish and Roman people were turning into Christianity which resulted in important advancements in art and architecture. However, even after all of these advancements and agreements, it was the invasion of Vikings that resulted in a unified, single English kingdom into existence.
