UC Clermont –vs- West Virginia Tech (at West Virginia Tech) 2/24/2013 game 2
The Cougars (3-1) lost their first game of the season 11-7 in the backend of the doubleheader against West Virginia Tech Golden Bears.
Senior Steven Hendrickson (Wayne H.S.) led the game off with a double against the left field wall, Freshmen Kevin Thamann (Moeller H.S.) sacrificed Hendrickson to 3 rd
base. Senior
John Kennedy (Loveland H.S.) knocked Steven in from 3 rd
. However, WVU Tech countered with an 8 run 1 st inning. The Cougars fought back in the 4 th with three straight hits by Freshmen
Trevor Cunningham (Milford H.S.), Freshmen John Cloyd (Louisville Male H.S.), and Senior JD
Little (Batavia H.S.), and a double by Thamann closing the gap to 9-5. The Golden Bears scored
2 more runs making the score 11-5 going into the last inning. UC Clermont challenged in the last inning with a leadoff walk to Sophomore AJ Wilson (Milford H.S.), pinch hits from Junior
Tyler Simmons (J.P. Taravella), Freshmen Caleb Elkins (Wayne H.S.), and starter Freshmen John
Cloyd (Louisville Male), scoring twice, and having 2 on base when the final out was made. Final score being WVU Tech 11, Cougars 7.
Sophomore Ryan Beard (Batavia H.S.) started his first game of the season for UC
Clermont. Followed by Freshmen Lawson Wishard (Mason H.S.), Junior Jesse Inskeep
(Anderson H.S.), and Sophomore Cody Chase (Amelia H.S.).
Ryan Beard suffered the defeat (0-1). JD Little led the Cougars with 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Steven Hendrickson scored 2 runs.
UC Clermont will be back in action Saturday, March 2 against OU-Chillicothe. The doubleheader will start at 1:00pm in Chillicothe, Ohio.
