ADVICE FOR FRESHMEN FROM GRADUATING SENIORS Each year TPHS graduating seniors are asked: “What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were a freshmen?” Here’s what they said: Communicate with teachers Get involved in activities and clubs Stay focused Be interested in all classes – learning can be fun Don’t be intimidated by upper classmen Talk to people Be yourself Be positive Study hard Run for office Talk to your counselor and your teachers – get to know them Don’t goof off – it will affect the rest of your high school years Get the grades up Don’t worry about what other people think Do your homework – don’t fall behind Be friendly – make lots of friends Get good grades so you have options when you graduate Don’t worry about superficial things Stay true to yourself Go to football games Get into extra-curricular activities but keep your life balanced Do community service Don’t be afraid Choose friends wisely Join, join, join 9th grade GPA really does count, don’t believe those who say it doesn’t It is not as big and scary as it looks Go to everything and stay single Do your homework Don’t do stuff just to look cool Don’t park in the senior parking lot Don’t give up Set goals Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself in school
