1. Basic Course Information.
• Objectives: Students will master concepts and solve problems on vectors, lines,
planes, and geometry in three-dimensional space; partial differentiation; max-min
theory; multiple and iterated integration; line integrals; and Green’s theorem.
• Text: Stewart, Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 6th ed.
An expensive condensed 3rd semester version is available in the bookstore;
but a much less expensive version of the same book is online at

• Weekly Meeting Times: You are expected to be present at all class meetings.

Course Assessment Information.
• Homework: Homework will be assigned each lecture but not collected. A minimum requirement for success is doing and understanding all homework. You must
do whatever it takes to meet this requirement. Do not hesitate to work together and
to ask questions on the difficult problems.
• Quizzes: Weekly quizzes will be given in lecture. Problems may be taken directly
from the assigned homework list.
• Exams: 3 in-class exams and a cumulative final exam.
