F.Mark Kuhlmann
F. Mark Kuhlmann, Kirkwood, Missouri, has been a member of the Thrivent Financial Board of
Directors since February 2006. Kuhlmann serves as chair of the Governance Committee and is
a member of the Strategic Oversight and Marketing Committee as well as the Executive
Committee of the board.
Kuhlmann serves as legal counsel for Systems Service Enterprises (SSE), St. Louis, an
information technology service business. In this role, he provides limited advice and counsel
to the business. Prior to joining SSE, Kuhlmann was senior vice president and general counsel
for McDonnell Douglas Corp.
A native of St. Louis, Kuhlmann received his Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in
St. Louis. He later earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Kuhlmann is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the Bar Association of
Metropolitan St. Louis. He also serves on the boards of the Municipal Theatre Association of
St. Louis, and is chairman of the board for Grace Place Lutheran Wellness Ministries, St. Louis.
In addition, he serves on the Ambassadors Council of Lutheran Family and Children's Services
of Missouri.
Kuhlmann and his wife, Barb, are members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Des Peres,
Missouri.
