Bio Sketch:
Dr. Geczy was born in Budapest, Hungary and came to the United States in 1965 with his parents as political refugees. He grew up in the Los Angeles area and obtained his doctorate from the University of
Mississippi. For four years he worked as staff psychologist with severely mentally ill patients at
Mississippi State Hospital on the chronic and psychosocial rehabilitation units. From 1988 till 1993 he was supervising psychologist at Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA, and was Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Virginia. In June 1993 he moved to
Oklahoma and was appointed Administrative Director of the Oklahoma City VAMC’s Psychiatry Inpatient
Unit. He was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in OUHSC’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral
Sciences in February 1997, and was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor in July 2002. Dr. Geczy has been interested in teaching throughout his career, and he was director of the Oklahoma City VAMC’s psychology internship program, as well as associate director of its postdoctoral training program, from
October 2009 till his resignation in March 2015. He has won multiple awards from interns and postdoctoral fellows for his teaching.
