California State Polytechnic University, Pomona DEPARTMENT OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE COLLEGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN The Landscape Architecture Department in the College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for tenure-track positions in Ujrban Design, Landscape History and Research, and Geographic Information Systems at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin Fall 2011. Position two and position three, listed in Landscape History and Research, and Geographic Information Systems, are contingent upon available funding. Position One: Candidates with specializations in Urban Design are especially welcomed to apply. The full time tenure-track Assistant Professor will undertake teaching, research/creative, and service activities in the graduate and undergraduate degree programs of the Department. The successful candidate will have a research and/or creative emphasis in Urban Design, Landscape Urbanism, Design Development and /or Design Implementation. In addition to teaching and scholarly work, the position will require participation in curricular development, academic advising, and service to the college and university. Position One Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Expertise and experience in Social and Environmental Justice and Equity, Urban Ecology, Multi-cultural Issues, Contemporary Theory and Advanced Visual Communication; Expertise with computer technology especially advanced dimensional modeling and production (rhino, revit, etc.); University teaching experience; A record of service to the discipline and the community; Ability to provide academic and creative leadership with vision; and Academic and/or professional experience Position Two: This position is contingent on available funding. This position will play a role in filling the department’s needs in the area of landscape history and theory, including teaching and scholarship in the areas of landscape history, design theory, and research methods. As a tenure track faculty member, the successful candidate will have responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship/or creative activities, and service. Position Two Required Qualifications: A PhD and at least one degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution; and Ability to communicate effectively and in a collaborative manner with administrators, faculty, staff, students and other groups. Position Two Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Record in teaching, scholarly or creative activity, and service in a tenure track position; and Evidence of scholarly potential, such as peer-reviewed publications and scholarly works in progress. Position Three: This position is contingent on available funding. Candidates with specializations in Geo-Spatial Technologies are invited to apply. This position will play a role in fulfilling the department’s needs in geo-spatial technologies, including teaching and scholarship in the areas of Geographic Information Systems and remote sensing.
